Pangea existed and the continents drifted to where they are now. They continue moving as we speak. India is currently smashing into China, thrusting the Himalayas higher each year. Alaska and Russia move a few inches closer every year, as America drifts farther from Africa and Europe.
Not to get into the evolution topic but i have to.
It is a theory with many missing links (no pun inteneded). Kind like physics made alot of sense but not total sense. Then quatum physics came along and closed some but not all of those gaps.
No matter what people say they cant explain giant leaps in evolautionary chains with the theroies we have currently.
Which mean eventually You Be able to drive form New York via Moscow to London! Plate Tectonics are an interesting concept I believe they are they there but it will be interesting to see weather or not the plates crash together to join all up to remake a version of Pangea or not...
As far as continental drift goes i will just go with the evidence i've observed while traveling a channel.

Though a shift of 1.4 cm seems small. I believe it may have an effect on our projected global warming.
Why do i believe this?Because I have faith in the balancing power of energies.Energy flows from an area of greater to lesser. So whatever energies are behind global temperature changes,will continue to change until there is balance.
This balance may be a long ways off,yet is interesting to be a witness to part of it.Isn't it?
unlike Rota, i don't accept pangaea as a proven fact
i do think it's an argument that has some really compelling supporting evidence
like Rota mentioned there's been discoveries of matching geological samples that are thousands of kilometres apart
also the continents do seem to fit together nicely if you position then correctly
what i think is cool is how some of the smaller (more recent) activities match up
my best example is the grand canyon and the great salt lake
some scientist think the lake was once a sea that drained through the grand canyon due to shifts in the plates
once the water level had been reduced and the lake was isolated, salt content raised due to evaporation
