Thank You Evony Forums!

I want to take a moment and thank Evony and the admins, and the reps, and the mods of the Evony forums.

These forums are well structured. The rules of posting have lead to a genial atmosphere that encourages thoughtful discourse. Even complaints are handled with a fair, and reasonable set of guidelines. Sub-communities have matured and prospered. Communities like the OT and GFX have actually been encouraged by Evony to grow and develop.

Rules on these forums have been enforced to enhance the forum-going experience, not diminish it. I hope all forum members here appreciate what a wonderful community Evony has created here. So, thank you...

I was inspired to make this post today. Lately, I have been getting a bit more active in another online game (not a RTS competitor). But, I have perused their forums, and it's AWFUL. It's full of threads that consist of one preachy post, and the ZERO discussion. People just make hundreds of posts to say "signed" or "signed hard" to note their agreement with the OP. Those forums are a big fat pile of spam. Every other thread is a dang petition thread. When a new topic suddenly comes up in game, there are dozens of threads on it. Do the moderators merge threads to lessen confusion? No. (What?! "No?") The same discussion takes place over and over again in a ton of threads, and it's awful.

The Evony forums are one of the first forums I ever really got active in. Now that I have actually looked at some other forums, I am finally realizing how spoiled I have been. Evony set the bar high and raised my standards without me even knowing it. As I look at other forums, they pale in comparison to the quality of the Evony forums. I felt the need to take this moment and say thank you. I certainly hope all forum members appreciate what has been done here.

And it's not just the mods/reps/admins that keep the forums going, it's also the users that keep coming back and adding interesting discussions. I'd like to thank them for keeping these forums alive.

Agreed.
It's the whole community that has made the forums what they are.

Without the guidelines set and enforced by Evony, the forums could have gone downhill, far and fast. The forums have been evolved and flourished into what they are today. It's a high standard that others would have to work hard to achieve.

i've only seen one other forum this well managed and that had to do more with a fansite for a show...

i give the mods a big round of applause particularly since they aren't paid to do this :)

I noticed this quite a bit too, it isn't an unusual occurrence, sadly.


Good job so far evony (+ staff and others) I think some people take the forum a bit for granted, which is sad seeing how good it is in a whole.

I must agree to this aswell. Honestly, when I just signed up here, I thought it would be just another ****ty game forum. Took me months to even get active.

There's a bunch of great, interesting, funny and helpfull people here & it is well organised. Love/hate ratio is purrrrfect. :p
Which places this forum in my all time top three honestly. (and i've spammed a lot of different ones *grinn*)

i feel in the last 2 months of me being active on the forums i have improved as a member thanks to Rota and the mods.....:oops:

Once again, Rota is right.

The mods do so much, this forum would be nothing without them.

And we really would be nowhere without our great community. Well done to absolutely every single person who is on this forum.

It's feedback about the forums, and this section is called "Forum Suggestions and Feedback". I think it's in the right place. :) EDIT: Rota got there before me...

I'm in agreement about the high standards and quality of these forums. I haven't been a part of one as good as this one yet.

Well said Rota. I feel what you put in words is a reason to why you find so many people on here who still hang around even tho they may have quit the game. I like that about this place, the fact there are always old and new faces, and those that return out of the blue to pop back.

There's a movie forum website that is well managed that I have been a member of for also a year now. It's a small forum community and there aren't many members. The moderators do their job well.

I use to play Evony a year back. Now I don't play it anymore. I didn't use this forum up until now. I decided to participate in this forum when I saw an Evony ad in the other forum website I go to.

If I or anyone else did this we would be kissing ass. Is Rota that awesome?!

I recently started taking part in the forums and have enjoyed them immensely. There are so many good ideas that get brought up and information is spread around quickly. It is a great place for both new and old players to learn more about the game. Awesome job to all that keep these forums running smoothly! :)

I dont agree with all of the actions of the moderaters, but I do respect them for doing what they do for free and putting up with all the bs from some posters who dont seem to realize that mods arent paid evony staff. This forum has helped me greatly as a player, and has served as a great way to take breaks from farming/studying. One of the most addicting aspects of evony is that there is always something else to learn about the game. This forum has proved to be essential to this learning process as without it we would still be attacking each other with archers. Great job by most who post and those that mod. Not to kiss ass or anything but I cant believe that this thread wasnt created earlier :D

and on another note i would very much like to meet the moderator that told us on 131 that we would be on the next set of merges i think he would very much love my company

Well there are certain intangible rewards they might get, like our undying adoration

The mods here are community volunteers, not Evony employees.

Forum mods don't work for Evony. We're volunteers that keep the forums clean.

I think Rota should be given 100% ownership of Evony Community.

I'd be interested to know what the employees of Evony think of the forums and the moderation. I hope that on the whole they see a nice, positive community and volunteer mods trying their best :)

Totally agree. I like the way you pointed out all of the unique this about the forums. I too have seen many disorganized forums that I eventually quit. This is the only forum that has constantly kept me coming back time and time again. Thanks to the moderators who keep this place clean. The forums would probably be toast without you. Also, I want to thank the awesome GFX community just for keeping this place bright with consistently great graphics jobs.

Thanks Rota for inspiring members to speak of the beat things about this community.

The only forum i have found better run that this is my brother over at Airsoft Carolina. But its not a game its a shop so i guess that doesnt count lol

The Evony forums have improved massively over the last few years. I couldn't agree more that it's due to some of the open minded mods who actually read a post and judge it on merit, rather than the old system of basically screening and then deleting any post that in any way criticised Evony for any reason. There are still a couple who shouldn't be mods because they view themselves as the personal defenders of Evony and lock posts based on their opinions rather than the forum rules *cough* sbd *cough* valkirah *cough*.

My 2 cents.

i Agree with you Rota Iam on other Current Online Game's and Evony is So by far the best ive seen also, iam i hope that, Evony keep's its friendly Commuity still going to make this sure this stays a Friendly,Happy, and a Awesome Forums which wont die anytime soon.

Valkirah has not been a moderator for X amount of months and X being the number of how long I been a moderator minus Y and Y being the number of days during my probation period as a moderator. When my probation was over he resigned as an employee.

I like how you compliment moderators on being open-minded and not moderating threads and posts based on the forum rules, then go on to criticize SickbyDefinition and Valkirah for being open-minded.
First off, if you have a problem with a moderator, you're more than welcomed to talk with the moderator in question, if you feel they are moderating is biased, go higher to Dawnseeker, provided the talk with the moderator did not work out. This applies to all moderators and is open to everyone to see. I am not bashing you, just clearing some confusions you or anyone else may have :)

I would like to compliment the awesome moderating team I have a pleasure of working along side with. They have been doing the work for the forums tirelessly and I can only ask them to put up with my laziness for another few weeks <3
