Just wanted to know what you call the little bugs with lights on their bums?
Fireflies? Or lightning bugs?
Both apply correctly, if that's what you're asking. As does Lampyridae, if you prefer.
Fireflies.
EDIT: Alusaur is wrong. Firefly > lightning bug.
Firefly....
So the question remains; Which is stronger, fire or lightning?
Don't you play the science card...
Fire > Lightning
No question about. Sure, lightning can cause fire but it's only a teeny tiny little fire and can't cause anyone any harm. But then it grows bigger and bigger and bigger and it's a massive force unable to be contained and no one thinks about the lil'cute lightning strike that started it. I can make fire with two sticks or a match or a lighter or a magnifying glass. That doesn't mean two sticks > fire.
Taking the example of evolution, if lightning creates (evolves into during a split second where the conditions this streak of lightning must live in - the air, changes to the ground) the fire, the theory of Natural selection put into this context would then be saying that fire > lightning..
I would have to say fire. The power of lightning is dwarfed compared to the power of our sun.
Lightning is superior morally to fire because lightning gives you a thunderous warning before it strikes.
Please tell me that you did not just write lightening twice... PLEASE!!!?
And thunder happens after lightning....
Nope. Thunder happens after lightning.
"The air around a lightning bolt is superheated to about 54,000 degrees Fahrenheit (five times hotter than the sun!). This sudden heating causes the air to expand faster than the speed of sound, which compresses the air and forms a shock wave; we hear it as thunder. Since the bolt is actually several short bursts strung together, multiple shock waves are created at different altitudes; this is why thunder seems to rumble -- each shock wave takes a different amount of time to reach your ear."
The more you know.
Wikipedia is perhaps the single greatest thing I have ever seen in my life. Only wished they didn't delete information all the ****ing time.
I think that google is far better...:)
And I still stick with Fire. It represents passion and a lot of other things, and Lightning and Thunder only respresents wrath.
Firefly!! :D
since we call them ''Gluehwuermchen'' i would call them lightning bug.
Firefly translated to german would be then Feuerfliege and thats a what people call the 'Schnellk?fer' and they not known for glowing in europe. the south american 'cucujo' is also what we would call 'Schnellk?fer and that one is supposed to glow.
