This thread started on a slow note, picked up some speed for a while. It got some positive attention. And now it is as dead as the subject of stopping cheaters. I have noticed that fewer and fewer people bring it up, here or on the new feedback sight. Is it because they have all had to accept that the bots and massive multi account armies have now gone mainstream?
That the players who did not choose to bot and follow that path are the ones that are wrong? It's beyond frustrating to see the botters continue to grow and prosper, and watch more and more players give up. When I say give up, I don't mean they quit the game.
Its hard to fault them anymore, the arguments against botting are weak when they see the obvious benefits others gain from it. And as more and more 'features' become known (like the ability to go in and out of truce at will) telling them it is against the rules is no argument at all. There have been a multitude of suggestions offered in this and other threads to help stop the widespread cheating. The tenor of the comments has gone from anger over the botters to resignation that they are not stopping. I guess now we just slide into acceptance that they are not being stopped aggressively. It is hard to listen to the Evony representatives indignant comments when someone accuses them of not doing enough to stop the botters or the multi accounters. Instead of getting angry that your customers are asking for more results, take a step back and look at it from our perspective. The problems and issues are not new, they are not limited to one or two servers. The level of usage has continued to grow at an alarming rate. It is difficult to applaud your efforts when they can be likened to trying to push back the incoming tide with your hands.
While most of us realize that you feel you must be circumspect and not publish the names of those punished, is there any way that you can mark the accounts banned on the server map? A different color flag? A status other than Peacetime, Beginner, Truce or Holiday? Some small sign that progress is being made goes a long way to keeping your customer's happy, and most importantly, it will help keep them from leaving the game and taking their revenue stream with them.
We need to see that you are taking us seriously, that you understand the scope of the problem on super servers. That finding a city that is not being controlled by a bot is similar to Diogenes searching with his lantern. . .
