forum title guide

these are the requirements for certain titles in the forums:

Civilian: starting title

Knight: 15 posts

Baronet: 50 posts and 1 month on forums- let's you use animated avi and sigs

Baron: 100 posts and 2 months on the forums- see who repped ya

Viscount: 200 posts and 3 months on the forums- polls can be made

Earl: 350 posts and 4 months on forums

Marquis: 600 posts and 5 months on the forums

Duke: 1000 posts, 200 rep, and 6 months on the forums- gives red rep and 100 pm spaces

Furstin: 1500 posts, 300 rep, 9 months on the forums

Prizessin: 3000 posts, 1 year on forums, 400 rep

Why is it so hard to politely tell the opening poster "thanks", and provide a link to the previously posted information? I for one am happy to see newer forum members try to make contributions to the community. There's too much snark directed at well meant intentions.

Please, it's not as if he made it from scratch. It's probably just a cheap copy-paste (well, not that cheap since he modified it a bit).

Anyway, now that he doesn't have red rep anymore, I suggest this thread is moved to the archive & the actual guide's link added to the Guides Index.

Anyone with the title Duke and up (and mods) can give red rep for infractions. Red rep is the opposite of normal rep and subtracts points from your rep total.They can give you 1/2 as much red rep as they would give in a normal rep.

If we are going to be jerks lets do it. Professor X & GermanZ neither of you have been on the forums long enough or built up enough street cred (not to be confused with reputation. my definition of street cred would be respect amongst your other forum peers) to be running around scaring off new forum members. We could use some more active people, and yet people like you two constantly scare them off. Regardless of whether this thread is useful or not, your opinion on this does not matter and thus you really should just stuff it where it belongs.

I've been on the forums for over a year and I have never known what it took to become prinz on here. Now I do thanks to this thread. Professor X & GermanZ go do something useful rather then trying to make a new member think we are all jerks over here. :duh::duh::duh:

I'm a jerk. Does that mean the community is constituted of jerks only? I don't think so.
Also, if being a jerk means understanding the rules, then I don't mind being a jerk.

I did not personally harass the poster, I only said that his post was a waste of space. This does not mean that I think the OP is a waste of oxygen -on the contrary. If he can, as one of those who called me noob (see PS.2), "dig up old archived threads", then he most certainly can offer great guides and/or tips.
Also note that my post was not non-constructive, since I clearly explained that this thread is useless because other threads (one,at least) serving the same purpose and offering the same clearness are already available.

I've noticed a certain amount of harshness dished out to new members and to be frank it needs to stop. Too many people are complaining about the forum dying, it's going to if newbies feel embarrassed every time they try to contribute.

I realize that no harm was meant, but try to see it from someone else's point of view. You may have thought they'll get the joke, however the chances are they didn't. If you feel you need to criticize then do so in a constructive way, no harm in adding a little humor but try to make it funny rather than a "put down".

@ Lazz I'm still working on my forum cred. Got a long way to go before I terrify anyone.

Please elaborate on how I am scaring off new members. Am I doing it with words or pictures. Or maybe you are just having a bad day and you think, just because you have been on the forum for 3 month longer than me, have reputation greater then me and more posts that that makes you better than me. Dude please spare me your sob story. My threads are actually about quality and not quantity.

Actually i had quite a fabulous day yesterday, i got to go to a concert for free and I got paid. "dude" your posts may be about quality/quantity but your posts in this thread were not necessary.

I have to argue again, as my first post (the one your red repped me for, being useless) was not useless. I was explaining that the original post is not needed, since it's some sort of re-posting of an already existing thread.

The 3rd one, just as this thread, is obviously a copy/paste work.
However, that one's negative replies (clearly showing that the post is no more than copying/pasting) were not met with "noob, stop scaring the newbs" comments.
