1156 posts in 4 days ! i dont know about that one:rofl: .
im assuming that a lot of people/accounts from our great SS57 were b0t accounts or people who had lots of alts that was b0ts . They just farmed the whole fking server over and over 24 hours a day until the lag was so bad you couldn't do anything and the npcs were 0 every minute of everyday .
Now that the captcha ( after two years of them b0tting) has finally put a huge dent in all cheating they decide to come here , make an account and complain about how the captcha will never work , or evony is fools for some reason.
As long as my neighbors ain't farming the surrounding 100 miles dry every 30 minutes from b0ts im all for the captcha no problem at all . On top of that the lag has went away .
Actually, I don't see that I assumed anything. I stated facts as I observed them, specifically, only had a few seconds of doom clock in 5 hours online. Please direct to me any other statement I made there. I seem to have blocked it from my memory.
And..... I just happen to have a handy dandy software engineer sitting a few feet away. He sometimes gets out the crayons and draws pictures to help me understand where the pretty colors come from. When, quite a while ago, I asked him if the number of players running bots could be contributing to the lag, he said a whole bunch of words which I pretended to understand. Then, with a thoughtful look on my face I asked "so is that yes or no?" and he replied with a definitive maybe.
I am at this point still sad that my feet are plaid, but still just reporting my observation.
Lag. Is. Greatly. Decreased.
(see all those periods? they mean each and every word is definitive)
oh oh oh!!! Just a preview since typing my post will take a while.... and this is the 2nd time I've been logged out while typing a post because I keep getting distracted...
Beware!! Someone let Vix out of her closet... tisk tisk...
Vix flames the pretenders, awards the lovers, gets down and dirty with the "customer service lead", gives a nod to the "forum moderator", dances with the "Community Manager" and basically... lets it ALL HANG OUT!! (Get your bats up boys and girls... I'm gonna throw you some curve balls and some straight down the plate!! and I know little of baseball).
~Vix~
Who's this KaylaMarie chick??
Actually, no. Every player on a server has a "cost" to the server, whether they are logged in or not, or actively doing something or not. Every player increases the size of the database and increases the amount of time, memory and processing power required to query it. It is entirely feasible that by having fewer players who are more active you would see better performance than by having more players who are less active.
The point is actually moot, however. See my above post. The best way to reduce or eliminate botting is to address the reasons WHY people feel the need to bot in the first place, by making some simple improvements to the game that benefit everyone.
I actually can answer my own question now as to why Evony does not reduce food requirements or make farming simpler. To do that would likely reduce people's incentive to buy Vestas, which would reduce their profit!
Starting from the bottom up, the lag went away. You, I have just found out, are the only person that thinks this. I said that a few pages back and was told by the people on ss57, that I was wrong and the lag is still there. Do you know what a bot is? While I have no computer programming ability, I do work with machines that have a robot running them. A bot as it is called here, refers to an internet robot. Bots for the most part are glorified button pushers. In this case if you have a hero in your hall and you have the troops to farm, then the bot goes through all of the same clicking you would do if it were you sending out the farm team. Now as to your statement of them farming to the point of npcs having zero food all day is ludicrous. In order for a bot to be efficient, the bot would have to have some internal process in which it can look at a certain npc and say nope, that was just farmed an hour ago. We need to wait for 8 hours so it will be full again. So your idea of bots sending out troops to the same npc over and over is crazy.
Now read your last sentence there and you should be able to figure out the problem on your own. If Evony's server can not handle 75% of the customer base being signed into a server and farming everyday, then the entire lag issue is their fault and has nothing to do with anyone else. This means that bots, multi-accounts, account watchers etc., have nothing to do with the lag. The entire server population should be able to be logged in at the same time. If this can not happen, then Evony has allowed to many people access to the server.
I think people need to leave the lag issue out of the equation. There are many IT people here and programmers that have chimed in on this. The issue is the level playing field. Nothing more, nothing less. This will never be accomplished when you have a free playing game and allow the ability to speed up the entire process by spending money. Some people are just going to have more money than the next person and there is nothing to keep it a level playing field. Only way to do this is by implementing a free no-coining server and we know that is never going to happen.
