I dont even play age 2, and the first pages of this thread are a joke to me. You can semi equate the life bonus given by star sets in age2 to the life bonus given by intel in age1. It makes a difference in a lot of situations, but when one side has enough damage to kill the other side in one round, the bonus is useless, because their dying in one round. Overkill can negate life bonuses to a point.

I'm quite sure its more detailed than that, I've got no clue how leadership and all that nonsense plays into it. Lol.

Surely - you being the best Age II strategist around, you can fight against a dis-advantage? Seeing that you're a 'strategist' - you just have to adjust things to make them work in your favour.

Lets give you an example:

The rebels in Libya recently took over the whole country - did they start off fighting exactly level with the government forces? No. They had about 20 guns between them and almost none of them were trained, yet - they fought against these massive dis-advantages and managed to win.

Why can't you? - Clearly being the best strategist in the game.

Well Holland, Age 2 strategy basically boils down to a time & resource trade between players. Troops = time & resources. Whoever has the better end of the deal has the advantage and can eventually win. Keyword eventually. But it is not that simple. Let me illustrate....
Say that we can both roughly produce the same amount of troops in the same amount of time. So time is equal. Now we just need to worry about resources.
Say that I am able to kill 20% or yours troop with 100% of mine.
After heal at 70% I lose 30% total. After enemy heal (13%) you lose 17% total. So I we are trading resources at 30% for 17%. No good. I cannot win because I cannot gain ground. I am gaining NEGATIVE ground.
But with higher attack heros I can now kill 40% of your troops with 100% of mine. After heals the trade will be 30% for 34.8%. Now I am GAINING ground on you at 4.8%. It's small but over time I can win.
Thus an attacker needs heros that are high enough to kill enough enemy troops so that the resource trade is in favor of the attacker. Since Age 2 has hero caps then troop training time also has a upper limit. So it is a kill ratio/resource exchange ratio that is the underlying strategy of Age 2. Here is the problem.... the POSITIVE gain an attacker can get against a 15 star set player is only so much. It is not that big. So if the defender has 200 million troops then it will take LOTS of time for that positive gain to eventually wipe them out. A knowledge if battle mechanics will help the attacker get maximum gain on the trade. But even that maximum trade on a 15 star set player is still very small. Thus it is just not reasonable to attack a 15 star set player unless you have knowledge of battle mechanics AND heros around 900 attack in Age 2.
And lots of Age 2 strategy is not just about clearing cities. Alot of it has to do with strategems, when to use them and how to gain even BETTER trade via uprise/supression battles. City walls lower the trade ratio ALOT.

So you ask why it has taken so long. I just explained it. Large spenders gain a tremendous head start. It takes an awful amount of time to close the gap.
You also need to understand that since Age 2 allows limitless troops and Evony has not capped them then it will take weeks if not months to kill off the 30+ million archers plus other troops built between now and the time I attack it. By the time I get around to attacking it I may have to clear 50 million archers or more. Thus limitless troops also cause a problem. Limitless troops takes a large part of strategy out of the game.

You know if would just link your evony account to a facebook account, you could get free penicillin, speech texts, war horns, and some other nice stuff. I know you don't want to but thats how I made alot of my progress. Facebook amulets, free penicillins, etc. I do not spend enough to get all the benefits of coining that some people get. I do not even have level 10 gear in workshop. Just pointing out the free stuff really. BTW yes I know you do not want to use facebook.

Dear Mr Pimp from Japan,

Having seen your many claims to be the best strategist in many posts and then having a look at your battle reports, I find it slightly alarming that you would actually post some of the battle reps up.

Your layerings are awful at best, suicide missions. Your using mechanics that aren't being effective against opponents with a lack of layering knowledge. Some of your reps look like your just killing off your own Mec units for the sake of killing them when slight alterations to your own layers would have a far greater effectiveness and inflict far higher losses on the defender.

Unless your the defender in which case the person attacking is showing a total lack of understanding of battle mechanics and has little to no strategic knowledge.

yea pretty much you can't call yourself a top strategist if you dont know everything about the game. I'm sure there are players who know a lot more then you do. I'll take a slice of that humble pie...i'm not a top strategist or player i know the game well but hard to say you are the best unless you know every player who plays the game and their knowledge of it. The best certainly dont use money as an excuse for why they can't beat someone

Let's be clear on that. I am not talking about battle mechanics specific to Age 2 like leadership and life bonuses. I am talking about strategies related to uprise/supression battles, attacking in general, defense in general, star upgrades, etc... And when you add the strategems that are unique to Age 2 that adds totally new layers of strategy. That's just reality right there. Not bragging at all. This is why noobs still think that playing from a colonized position is "bad". They just don't get it.

What makes you think anyone else doesn't know the stuff you do about "general game play" and that kind of things? If they don't talk about it, it doesn't mean they don't know.

You have superior strategies, but you don't understand the battle mechanics? Is that what you're saying?
If so - as you said... your strategies will have very little effect. --> I'd say you can't make your strategies true --> you're not a great strategist (at least when it comes down to attacking or defending (you need to be good at battle mechanics) ).
