Don't like it.
It happens ? Of course, any alliance in top 20 you're gonna have to assume you'll have atleast a few spies. imo Giving the spy no power solves a lot. Being attacked ? Tell the trust Vh...coords, etc.
Any decent alliance can stand up to a spy and nullify any uses it has, it's just giving roles to the people you know you can really trust.
In the end a spy won't change anything in the war except for taking a spot up, or if you give him kicking powers -_- So I just find it stupid in a whole....
If an alliance is gung ho on promotions as you call it, then they're likely to be doomed without being spied on, I'm sure.
That would be fair. Spies/traitors are normal in war. I have learned over time just to accept them.As a host I always assume that every player I promote may betray me or leak information or whatever. So I never put myself in a position where they can hurt me too bad. I learned to keep my mouth shut. And booted members can always rejoin. Booting is the least of the problems a spy/traitor can cause. Leaking battle plans and information is the worst of it. It has caused me to lose weeks of preparing in the past simply because I told someone I "trusted" my plans. I have learned not to tell anyone anything.
I can't disagree you with the not telling people part. Perhaps the hardest part of Evony is finding trustworthy people. I find real-life people can always be trusted though.
Spies are awesome, Nothing funnier then getting to see what your enemies and even allies are saying about you in AC
Spy hunting is just as fun. Its part of the game just like the pansies that close their gates and comfort non-stop for years... It might be dirty but meh, Its funny + it gets results :pirate:
Spies are just another part of the game. If your enemy feels the need to have a spy, then they must have no confidence in their own abilities.
Back when I played the game, I never cared about spies. If someone wanted to be an active and friendly member of the alliance chat, they were welcome to. :) Doesn't really take much to keep a spy in the dark, and if I were ever concerned about them for whatever reason, I'd just find out what alliance they were working for and destroy it, problem solved.
I personally never used spies for my alliance, I never saw a point to it. We always won our wars without them, so why bother?
