Riddle Thread!

Hurray for Luda (I actually didn't get the answer to the riddle the first time :p)

OK, one more

3 people obtain a hotel room, the front desk receptionist charges them $30 total
They take the key and go up
The receptionist realises he overcharged by $5, so calls over the bellhop
Bellhop takes the $5 and goes up to return it to the customers
Enroute, the bellhop does some quick math, realises that $5 doesn't split 3ways evenly, so helps himself to a $2 tip, then returns $1 each to the customers.

Riddle me this:
3 x 9 = $27 + $2 tip = $29
Since they initially forked out $30 (fact)... what happened to the other dollar?

25 price & 5 dollar overpayed = 30 dollar total.
waiter puts two in his pocket = 28 left
he returns a dollar to every lady 9 (3 dollar) = 25 left, which was the cost of the bill.
So there is no "other" dollar.

A king walks up to his three sons and says someone needs to take his throne.
The King cannot decide who to give the throne two, so he sets up a little competition.

The king says "The Horse that crosses the finish line last gets the rider of the horse the throne! GO!"
So the three sons travel super slow down the hill. They've only gone a mile in one whole day, so they rest. A strange man comes up to them when the wake up and whisper something in each of their ears.

Suddenly, all three sons jump on a horse and race to the finish line.

What did the strange man whisper in their ears?

EDIT: No wait, because it doesn't matter whose horse it is, but who's on the horse... so that can't be right.

You are in a 2 floor house.

There are 3 switches on the ground floor that light three different lights upstairs.

How can you determine which switch goes to what bulb only making one trip upstairs?
