If it takes 6 hours to dig a four foot by four foot hole, how long does it take to dig half a hole?

A king tells his three sons that he is going to die soon and needs a succesor to his throne. "The smartest son will inherit my throne. Take this coin and buy something that you may use to try and fill this room from side to side, top to bottom." He gave them a golden coin and sent them off. One son bought bags and bags of feathers, but they filled only one side of the room. Another son bought several bales of stray and spread them in the room, yet they filled only a corner of the room. The smartest son found a little shop, bought two small items and put them in his pocket. When he returned to the room, he showed his brothers and father that they could indeed fill the room.

What were the two items?

It is impossible to dig half a hole. As soon as you start digging, you've made a hole. ^_^

Match & Candle.... filled the room with light

OR

Match & Incense/Smudge stick etc.... filled the room with smoke

You are walking down a road and you encounter a fork in the road and you do not know the correct way to go. There are two men standing at the junction and both know the correct road. One man always lies, and the other man always tells the truth, but you do not know who is the liar and who is the one who tells the truth. You can only ask each man one question, but it must be the same question for both. What is the question that would allow you to get the information necessary to choose the correct path?

A lot of sources say that the correct method might be to put a knife to one of their throats, have them choose a path, and make him walk in front of you down it... but a more traditional answer would be to ask "What would the other man tell me is the correct path?" and take the opposite of what you're told.

I am ignoring the above statement. (coz it was a spammer at first before mods removed it)

You are on an exploring expedition to the New World. Mankind doesnt yet know of America. You reach the new continent and are confronted with hostile natives. What would you do to make them understand that you are peaceful?

Grandfather = Father of Father
Father = Son of Grandfather

Therefore, there are only 3 men.... boy, father, grandfather

Alternatively...

While falling from the sky, the 4th bird was suddenly swooped down on from above by an eagle, who snapped it up mid-fall and took off with it
Or maybe it spontaneously combusted
