Servers
Having the servers go completely down as just happened is not a normal occurrence I know, but why do you allow those in the game to stay when the others can not authenticate?
All you are creating is a big mess and upsetting customers. I am sure this has been asked before, though I do not remember ever seeing an answer.
Why do you not shut down the server/servers completely when something like this happens?

I am not too sure if they really can, I doubt there is a button that simply turns off the servers with simply no effect to any post/outside sources.
It could potentially waste even more time on it, and even money.

Doing that would cause a lot of money to be lost on their part, becuase of the extra work in bringing the servers & forums back up...
Not only that, there's the fact that people are less inclined to pay money a while afterwards for a faulty game. Yeah, they might forget a week or two from now, but it does have immediate--and disastrous--effects for them...
Give that a thought.

Yeah, I do not know the technical side to doing something like this, figured I would just ask.
As far as losing money from customers, that will happen either way and probably more so by not doing it. There are 83 people in my alliance and 4 of them were still online. So that is potentially 79 paying customers getting upset versus the 4 that would have been kicked off if a shut down was possible.
While I know that all members of an alliance are rarely online at the same time if ever, there are many times in the evening and late night(server time) when this happened, that we will have 20-25 people online. So the 79 up above becomes 16-21, but that is still worse than the 4 booted.
Think about those numbers.

Any word on a comp package?

I remember about 6 months ago there was a mass outtage which lead to the same circumstances as what happened last night. Most players agreed it was unfair to the unlucky few who although they knew they we in danger of losing their cities (and quite a few did) could not log in. I also remember many players returning the capped cities, feeling that as it was beyond everyone's control it was the least they could do.
Evony even gave us all a lovely compensation package on that occasion even though it was not their fault.
No one got their accounts rolled back because of the reasons that have been listed by others in this thread before. Nobody thinks it's fair but never underestimate the London Blitz spirit.

The question here is how it is possible some people are still online when supposedly the server is completely down? Does evony even lag when the servers are down resulting in a few players staying in game? :p
Anyways, I think they should make sure no one is able to log in when it's a downtime of this size. When the (very large) majority of a server can not login because of problems on evony's side, I think they should completely take it off, if possible.
which I think it almost as simple as just pushing a button. You can take them offline and work on them, as done in maint, so why not do that in a "crisis" like earlier today?

site still down for me. cant load servers or evony main page. and all other websites are working fine, so it's not the computer or the connection
