I know that there have been plenty of discussions about what this part of the Forums is, or what it has, or over the rules that are here...
But is this place more than just a place to visit? Is it more than a group of people? And is acer5200 truly a monkey like the rumor going around says?And is Revoltion truly ugly?

OT= Off Topic, welcome Jurnis ;) there is a bar, some cats, and lots of green eggz and SPAMZZ. Sometimes you see the occasional blue person streaking through as well.
It's just a safe place where I can come and be myself. It's like a counselor's office, no one is going to make fun of me for what I wear or think or say. And if they do, I can squish their self esteem into a pulp or it's someone who asks the right questions and forces me to go teach myself something so as to stop myself from sounding like a moron again. (But since Rota and Rodri don't come around here nomo the latter rarely happens these days.) I don't have to always be as smart here as I do reddit, I don't have to deal with random CP or bronies or hundreds of pizzas showing up at my front door because I made one tiny mistake in anonymity. I can make people cry or laugh or smile or hate me in relative peace.
Elsewhere on the internet it is ridiculously embarrassing to admit to have ever for one single moment even thought about playing Evony. Here we all know we made terrible mistakes in the past and that no one is perfect. I know there are other game forums out there that are just as open and forgiving but the forums of other games I tend to play consist mainly of us narc-ing out cheaters/exploiters, mocking one another for not know how to cheat/exploit, and discussing new and improved ways to cheat/exploit. Instead of one giant community here, it's more like high school. Not all of us are in the same grade or taking the same classes, the population here is split up into little factions of servers, alliances, and those who stopped playing but still stop by to hang out.
The Internet is going through a lull right now. No super awesome MMOs have come out lately, just a lot of over-hyped closed beta so a lot of us have been hopping from forum to forum to forum as the games open and suck and we leave to go try out another one. The poker forums are all depressed and lonely because the US gov't has it on hiatus or maybe perma banned, nobody really knows. Misc got really really really boring. And a lot of other forums lost tons of their quality old time posters as they got older got jobs and started having regular sex. This new generation of children becoming teenagers is just really dumb as a whole, they can't hold concrete ideas in their little brains and can't engage in back and forth conversations longer than 15 seconds. They're like little goldfish just swimming aimlessly around their small glass bowls of putrid water.

i love the off-topic :D everything is a little more free there, and some people have problems with people who post in all the games to get their post count up, but the rep bar tells you if that person is worth speaking to or not.(mostly)
And acer has given me so much red rep that yes, ive decided that he is indeed a monkey

Random is just random and well you get the occasional serious thread where all try to sound like our IQ's should belong in MENSA, before the orderlies find us and put us back in our respective boxes.

If you ever payed any attention in the forums, you would learn that no one cares about rep. The people who do care about rep are the people who nobody wants to pay attention to or talk to. Rep is completely pointless, and as others have said before, it is like prestige in Evony. Everyone has it and no one cares if you do.Quote:

I come to the OT when I see a thread that I feel I know something about, or have the urge to post in. I don't post on here as much as I used to. When I posted before, it was mainly in game threads. Those are really the only dominant threads around. There weren't any interesting threads around when I posted more frequently, and I just wanted to get my post count up. I don't care about post count any longer, and haven't for a while. The point of my rambling is that I only post when I see an interesting thread that I want to post in.Quote:

Ok while the analyzation of Raster's way of speaking and the children of this day in age is indeed interesting (I had to comment, myself!), we need to get back to the topic!
I'm gonna do some cleaning. Yay fresh smells and slippery floors.
More than anything, this forum has taught me a little more about human nature and the influences on it. It's neat to see all of the different attitudes, ideas, and intellectual levels from various people around my nation and my world.
Yet, in the same way, EF has shown me how we are all alike. How we all get overly passionate about some topics, and how we all condemn the reactions of others in certain respects, and why we have these reactions ourselves. Or, in my case, discovering why other people have particular reactions to reactionary actions.

OT is a bookmarked page I see on the edge of my vision when ever I open my browser.
It's a place to lurk when I want and a place I can post when I want. It's active and it's a community (still undecided on what type of community it is lol). Ot Is a nice place for a quick word/convo and has just enough of it to keep me coming back :)

I have played, and will never again take up, Evony. It was a waste of my time that could have been used in other ways, i.e. studying and learning things that I didn't already know, or chatting with friends.
I played it for about a week, hated it and refused to play it again.
