I know lots of grammatical mistakes. LOL
Isn't it wonderful? - Lucid Dreaming. I've had a few experiences where my astral body was floating over me, and I tried very hard to detach it from my physical body but for some reason I just could not. I am usually successful when I don't think about it too hard.
It's also true that as you get older, you get less & less of these experiences. It's weird how that happens... Who knows why this might be :D
Much Love!
For the sake of arguing (I like arguing), i'm taking raster's side of this argument.
This business about out of body experiences is off-topic, and quite frankly, just your imagination... I can imagine myself looking down at myself too... nothing special about it.
Lucid dreaming, or the notion of realizing you're dreaming and then controlling your dream, is also your imagination. miza and Kreig even admitted it in their own posts.
Essentially, you've both just admitted that you never really had any control whatsoever.
Also, i'm too lazy to go and find it, but somebody said something along the lines of, "I thought what the other person in my dream was going to say, and they said it". And that was one of your facts backing up your argument. Newsflash, you're dreaming bud. Any of your daily experiences, any image/phrase/lyric that's stuck in your mind will influence your dream. Your subconscious thought of something somebody said in RL that day and inserted into your dream as one of your thoughts and the dialogue of the other person.
What i'm trying to say is, you may think you're 'controlling' things in your dream. But you're actually dreaming about controlling things in your dream.
I would agree with Eric and Raster. Dream control ultimately comes because you dream about being in control. I can remember my dreams, vividly, but never do I think I can have full control of those dreams. Sometimes, it's healthier to let the dreams play out how it's supposed to, because they can sometimes be indicators of a larger psych problems.
I never stated it's my imagination that makes me lucid dream. You're just going around my words, trying to fit your statement. I actually even said that I tried hard to detach myself from my physical body once, but it didn't work. Why is that? I was IMAGINING it, yet it didn't work. So that being said, my imagination didn't contribute to my astral travel. It's the fact that I wanted to do it, and I DID. :) It's sure will, you're just not willing to do it.
Are you seriously going to tell me that I have never controlled my dreams? I have. Number of times. The way you're thinking, that you can't control even your dreams, of course you wouldn't be able to. :) Everything starts with a single thought & it manifests.
I've had dreams before where I've felt like I'm in control, once or twice... but I've never really thought much into it. Now that I am, reading this though, Eric's making a lot of sense. There's already been research into the extent to which the subconscious mind influences conscious thoughts, and the results are overwhelmingly that it's the subconscious in control, and rarely the other way around. (For anyone out there who refuses to accept this without me giving some link, I say screw you and look it up yourself. It's not that obscure.)
Anyway, with that in mind...
Just a passing thought, but is it possible that the illusion of lucid dreaming is an indicator that the person experiencing it feels they've lost control over their life? Seems like this could easily lead to something like attempting to control something else, such as dreams, to compensate...
...Yeah and the government's like, sending out brain waves, man, trying to... make us think things, man. No really, they are. Know why, man? I can like, feel it, man...
Yay me :D
Wait... what?
Again, astral whatever-the-heck is off topic. But i'll say again, I can imagine myself looking down at myself too...
Yes :D
Exactly, dreams are manifested by your subconscious. Just for your information supposed lucid dreamers, you're not conscious of your subconscious. You can't control it! Duh!
Probably true, Bree.
Like, I LOLd, man xD
Lucid dreaming is just another realm of reality.
Only different is... you're more focus and aware of this reality.
Well Eric i have to say that lucid dreaming is not understood well enough for anyone to say it is or isnt "real". as for controling a dream, i believe if the state of sleep is deep enough that one can be aware of ones subconsiuos with waking then the person could in fact control a part of the subconscious.
but what do i know? i smoke far to much (?ummm yeah?)to even remember my dreams,so controling a dream would be out of the question.
I just thought it was an interesting topic.
Actually lucid dreaming is a verified state of consciousness during REM sleep. I just wish more people would look into this.
Ones body is asleep then one can become consciously aware of ones dream state. This is lucid dreaming - and it's been dated back to as far as we can remember.
And you don't smoke too much. You're open minded. :)
