Back on 97, one of our best players was 15, in the top alliance. He quit because of school.. Good for him! You can't really put an age limit on playing a game... although, the world chat is another story.
We had a host that was 16 on server 149 and everyone left the two alliances because of that. This happened in the first day or so.
On 158, a 16 year old host founded two alliances then a third. His cities had no wall defences and no troops. He was devious and rather lacking in empathy. Eventually all alliances in the group folded. While the alliances were running we were having a great time but all good things came to an end.
What!! A 9 year hosting?
I gotta see this for myself! Who is it.. the in game name?
9 is a bit young by any standards. Speaking from experience i wasted a lot of time playing evony and it was only once i got to 7th form (year 13) that I finally snapped and started cutting back my hours playing evony. I think that the problem is not just "age" and "maturity" but also the physological effects spending numerous hours on games such on this does to the young and developing mind. <- not sure if someone has said that i couldnt be bothered reading 10pages:devil:
I used to spend a lot of time in personal chat because of that. thats one of the reasons why i left, all the screwing around.
theres this guy in na39 who would join random alliances with his buddy and would screw around and **** everyone off ill they got booted.
his name is eurynomos.
i first started playing evony when i was 10 or 9 and loved it! i needed help so i joined an ally they were sick minded sometimes and i was the youngest but they were sensible about me being there -.-
i quit after a while because school and stuff and i came back and really miss richx and the others xD
14 now so never too young its just a game i even met someone again in haypi kingdom now that scared me:)
I agree with the comments about maturity. Some stuff that kids see in schools these days are just as bad as some stuff they may see/read on evony chats, but its the ability to filter out and know what they should and shouldn't say, and I guess in the case of some chats, knowing when to just ignore whats being said rather than try to figure out whats going on and question everything they see there. While most people say there isn't a set age though...I've noticed a majority of people still judge based on age rather than maturity level or anything else. I'm 21 going on 22 soon, and have had countless people in the past change their views/opinions and stop talking to me altogether in some cases in hearing that, despite talking to many of them for weeks and months before finding out my age.
So..while personally I believe it should be based on maturity, most are more concerned with the number associated with their age anyways
