theres one guy in my old alliance who was about 50. there should be an age max also.
Well my little brother plays evony and hes 13, he actually hosted a ranked 2 allaince and kept it running until everyone found about his age. lol, well anyways i think it doesnt matter , the game is free, an some players take the game alittle to seriusly with the age thing. I have been accused of it bc i dont buy things, and got kicked out of an allaince. But i think some plp need to accept that the game has kids and adults so just get used to it :)
Blimin heck lol. 50 isn't old.
Not to mention I've some in their 70s who play this better than those in their 30s.
On 161.. The host of a top 5 alliance.. Is 9 years old.
:/
olderest i have spoken to in the game, ( with good hero's and troops ) is 53.
Youngest is 13, kid had a high hero, instant scouts.
to me it doesn't matter about age,
matters about how good you are.
:).
BMS
Wow... 9 year old hosts? The new generation of over digitized kids. Suppose it shouldn't really come as a surprise, kids as young as 5 have iPhones...
Back on 97, one of our best players was 15, in the top alliance. He quit because of school.. Good for him! You can't really put an age limit on playing a game... although, the world chat is another story.
We had a host that was 16 on server 149 and everyone left the two alliances because of that. This happened in the first day or so.
On 158, a 16 year old host founded two alliances then a third. His cities had no wall defences and no troops. He was devious and rather lacking in empathy. Eventually all alliances in the group folded. While the alliances were running we were having a great time but all good things came to an end.
What!! A 9 year hosting?
I gotta see this for myself! Who is it.. the in game name?
9 is a bit young by any standards. Speaking from experience i wasted a lot of time playing evony and it was only once i got to 7th form (year 13) that I finally snapped and started cutting back my hours playing evony. I think that the problem is not just "age" and "maturity" but also the physological effects spending numerous hours on games such on this does to the young and developing mind. <- not sure if someone has said that i couldnt be bothered reading 10pages:devil:
I used to spend a lot of time in personal chat because of that. thats one of the reasons why i left, all the screwing around.
theres this guy in na39 who would join random alliances with his buddy and would screw around and **** everyone off ill they got booted.
his name is eurynomos.
i first started playing evony when i was 10 or 9 and loved it! i needed help so i joined an ally they were sick minded sometimes and i was the youngest but they were sensible about me being there -.-
i quit after a while because school and stuff and i came back and really miss richx and the others xD
14 now so never too young its just a game i even met someone again in haypi kingdom now that scared me:)
I agree with the comments about maturity. Some stuff that kids see in schools these days are just as bad as some stuff they may see/read on evony chats, but its the ability to filter out and know what they should and shouldn't say, and I guess in the case of some chats, knowing when to just ignore whats being said rather than try to figure out whats going on and question everything they see there. While most people say there isn't a set age though...I've noticed a majority of people still judge based on age rather than maturity level or anything else. I'm 21 going on 22 soon, and have had countless people in the past change their views/opinions and stop talking to me altogether in some cases in hearing that, despite talking to many of them for weeks and months before finding out my age.
So..while personally I believe it should be based on maturity, most are more concerned with the number associated with their age anyways
Lol.. sweety that's just you being x-rated
Sometimes young people in game can make an alliance awkward. When I first met my friend Shaun on Evony, he explained to me that he refused to talk alone, even in ac with anyone under the age of 16 for fear that he would be branded something he's not. Sometimes regardless of their maturity it can't always be pleasant for those in the same alliance as the youngster
One of my hosts on a previous server, he was only 13 and we had no idea until 3 months into the server (we thought he was attending the University of Georgia lol).
Anyways, he really was a great player to be with, a little immature at times, but he was a good player nonetheless and he led us through tough times.
He quit when he turned 14 citing social issues and studying lol.
there was this one guy on na29 who would go out and critisize everyone in wc.
he was 12
my son was determined to start playing evony because he's always known me to..hes only 9. I started him an account on 161 where Im at now..i had to make a seperate alliance just for him lol he has so many questions and i dont know if i have the patience lol
I believe evony is a game for adults but he was very persistant..just hope he dont end up playing hookie from school everytime hes under attack lol
btw Acer, long time lol got Trojans on the boards again on the new server..quite a few guys from 151 are with me as well, stop in sometime :)
First of all an U-16 server or something along those lines is just an easy way for paedophiles to get their fix. Secondly you click on evony because a big breasted woman says join me my lord, if you click because of that then you are on more adult sites than evony so whats the problem. I personally started when I was 12, at that time and even now new server world chats are full of "Cybers" but if you just join a decent alliance and stick in the chat then things will be fine. Bottom line is nothing can be done so don't bother with hypothetical's.
I would say 13
I mean I would agree that at times places like WC But mainly AC and Over the mail as well little kids really should not be exposed to that kind of language
:modedit:
But Its not the games fault either if they are under aged and they don't agree with the language its just as much the parents fault for now watching them but I have seen first hand that sometimes parents don't have time to watch there kids 24/7 due to work and sickness at times...so this is just one of those no answer questions lol:(
kids can be better players than adults, they learn fast and tend to be more eager. they dont take things so personally either in my experience.
13 would be a good min age, but would be difficult to enforce. my kids have tried the game, but the ps3 was far more enticing so they didnt stay.
Language i dont really worry about, evony has a basic filter system for chat, and i doubt what can get thru even comes close to school language lol [surely you all remember swearing and insults at school :P]
ive only met a few kids and they were alright. 13 is a good min age.
This still open? I already gave the answer
I have to share a story
My brother started at age 10 O.o
He became a host and Screwed the alliance by naming it afte a differnet alliance(His alliance rank 100 other rank 10)
Age 13 sounds good :D
i hate it when the number one alliance is named say, Dragon.
and you have alliances ranked around 400 named Dragons, DRAGON, dragon, Dragon2
On my first server, I was recruited to an alliance that I soon found out was run by a 12 yr old, and his two 13 yr old twin best friends. LOL They were the epitome of immaturity. I left with a quickness. But since then I have come across a few teenage players who were very mature, and I would never have expected them to be as young as they were, til they told me.
As far as the language goes, like many have said, they hear worse on the school bus, in class, in church youth groups (sad but true). I personally will not start or partcipate in a conversation with a teenager that is overtly sexual or profane. But thank goodness my alliance has no younguns in it, so that isnt an issue for me now lol
So since Evony cannot verify age of members, just do like I do....regardless of age, steer clear of any player who is immature/nasty/excessively mean/etc.
But to get to the point of the topic LOL I think 14 and up if I had to pick an age limit. By then they should be able to grasp the game mechanics and such. Maybe haha.
Some of the language in WC on SS56 I wouldn't let my 12 year old anywhere near the computer when on Evony lol.
