I am more convinced than ever that you dont know what anecdotal means. An anecdotal argument is something that is non statistical, it is argument based on analogy, and life experiences. It cannot be proven scientifcally. Since this is a discussion on what attracts people to others it becomes very difficult to argue with anything other than what each of us have experienced. You have not given a single scientific argument to support your opinion, in fact as I read through the posts you have not given a single argument to support your opinion at all anecdotal or otherwise. All you have done is attack other people without arguing your own points. Your only contribution to this discussion is a series of replies that say "your dumb, im right, your wrong, try harder" I know you believe that women marry for stability, and security, BUT WHY DO YOU BELIEVE THIS TO BE TRUE???? Argue your point or stop making it over and over, and try not to attack someone elses opinion all the time, it makes you look less credible.

The conclusion: Ten days before a speed-dating event, participants completed a questionnaire about what they were looking for in a mate. The answers to these questions matched what we expected—women sought status more than men did, and men sought looks more than women did. Then, the participants attended a speed-dating event, and were asked to rate all twelve participants on attractiveness, good earning prospects, and overall romantic interest. We found that when it comes participants evaluating how they feel about real people (as opposed to hypothetical ideal partners), the differences in those preferences disappears. That is, women and men were equally inspired by good looks and equally inspired (AT A LESSER EXTENT) by earning prospects.

Of course attractive people win first impressions, the results of that study do not prove what you think they prove. We're talking long term here, not a passing in the streets instant analysis of someone. If you go reread what I originally said, you'll realize you are arguing against a point I did not make. The reason I'm really good at putting people on tilt and winning arguments is because I'm really good at putting people on tilt and making them argue against nonexistent points. Somewhere you picked up that I said women don't value physical appearance when judging someone. I said women marry for stability.

Had your entire post been this it would have been perfect. You do not need to attack or belittle people to make a point.

I considerd not posting the study because of the reasons you stated, but it was still an interesting article. Im not above admitting that your final thoughts pretty much whoop me. You were refering specifically to the notion of marriage, and not initial attraction. As I think about it, I have to agree with you, women may initially be more attracted to the qualities sickbydefinition posted, but ultimately security and stability could be top factors in deciding to take a relationship to the level of marriage.

I thought about responding to your other comments, but in an effort to end this debate/argument I decided I would just focus on the part of your post that was logical, and not offensive. I would love to see your next post be a little more light hearted.

Now maybe we can get this thread back on track. In the spirit of good humour I want to re-start the thread with....
