Is there a known issue today because i can neither send or receive fb gifts
i havent been able to collect gifts for a few days now. Keeps saying 'this is not your gift'
third day running that most my FB gifts not coming thru... *this is not your gift
Yes, same here, and I'm getting really tired of all the screw-ups I have to deal with in my Evony experience. I normally don't complain about shoddy free software, however, I do pay for Evony (or have in the past) and am definitely unhappy with the crappy product I have received in return.
In fact, I can't decide which program is worse, Facebook, (total crap programing, something fails everyday with it, but it's free) or Evony (something fails often, but not every day, however, rules are constantly changed midgame to increase revenue, I HAVE paid for it.)
In short, dealing with glitchy crappy programs has brought me to the point of wishing I had never started this experience. I only play now to justify the money I spent in the past, will be quitting soon, and would NEVER recommend Evony to anyone.
Be patient and don't accept your gifts till this problem is fixed =D
fb gifts not working for the 3rd or 4th day in a row? i pay good money and expect a good product in return.

Nope! Facebook sneaked in some changes over the weekend and as usual, they didn't tell any independent developers, and just left it for us to figure out for ourselves. We are working on getting Evony and FB to hold hands again, and once we do, gifts should be back to normal.
It should be working again in a few days. In the meantime, sorry for the errors.
just a quick question....
will the gifts that have already been sent be able to be opened when this is fixed? or will the fix only affect gifts sent after the fix?
Honestly, it's too early to tell. I would expect that any gifts prior to completion of the fix will no longer work, based on the fixes we're having to make.
If we can keep the requests, we will, and are working hard to figure that out.

As this has happened multiple times before, would it not make sense to create a daily "Facebook Check" from your side instead of having to have players report it? Proactive vs. reactive. As best as I can tell, the issue has been going on for some time now, but you all only reported being aware of it today.
The problem won't be corrected until someone figures out a way to exploit the facebook gift system into giving you unlimited gifts and someone makes a youtube video on how to use the exploit.
Until then, it'll continue to be buggy, because there's no underlying reason (read: financial benefit to Evony) to correct the issue.
While it is "only gifting", like many other "free" things, it has an intangible dollar value assigned to it.
At any rate, my understanding is that Facebook changed elements of their API. When I searched around earlier, I did see some other sites stating that Facebook does make changes with little or no notice. That's bad business practice by Facebook, but it is what it is, and so long as Evony wishes to remain on their app / platform, they have to remain flexible with respect to Facebook API issues.
If a daily check of the Facebook API as it pertains to Evony was created, it would serve as an "Early Warning System". A failure could trigger an email to a developer and/or manager, and the ball could get rolling quicker on posting an advisory to customers, as well as getting someone involved in scoping out the problem, making an assessment and trying to work on scheduling the corrective measures needed. This is a proactive approach, rather than the reactive approach of having customers report the issue, with several days passing by before it bubbles up onto someone's radar.
Most of the gifts (not be be confused with the buffs you can click on, e.g. speech texts, which we discussed in a different thread) are useless. When you get to prinzessian status you can gift one another amulets, which is what virtually everyone does. So, you can pick up 20 ammies a day for spinning. 75% of those yield 200k stone.

well, it's been five days now, for me, just wondering how far up the priority list the fix is? While I understand things cant be corrected in an instant, 5 days seems to be a reasonable amount of time. While ammie packs are intangibles, prinz,furstin etc reinforcement packs are not. :attack:
Nevertheless, some people still see it as an issue, else nobody would post about it, right?

In any case, what I've mentioned doing would apply no matter if it was a "legitimate excuse" or not. Systems that have a process monitoring them to make sure that they are performing as expected are proactive measures and part of numerous "Best Practices".

About half of my FB gifts it tells me 'This is not your gift'. I thought this was supposed to be fixed?:confused: The ones it keeps telling is not my gift are usually the amulets....:( I'm tired of not being able to get my amulets!! :flame:
Yes, the change affected a huge chunk of the apps and games on Facebook. We do have checks in place as you described, and they did catch this issue and the programmers are working on a solution. It's not simple, since the change was not documented and they basically have to track down the error messages and see what is broken then figure out how to fix it. That's why its taking awhile.
Yes, this has happened in the past, but it is certainly not periodic. Facebook is well-known for making these changes without warning, without telling anyone and without providing any documentation. Its a bit tedious, but we think the benefit to players is worth a few hassles on our end.
When it happens, we work as quickly as we can to get the issue fixed. Sometimes it is something simple. A few times when this happened, players never noticed because we patched the game to work with FB changes within minutes. This time its more complex and requires a large code rewrite. That takes time, but we're on it.
You know what folks, just hang in there until it's fixed. Yes, it's an inconvenience, but not a game stopping one. If it's fixed and gifts work again, I'm a happy camper. If the over 100 gifts I have sitting in the que now don't work, then I'm not a happy camper and will express my supreme displeasure at that time.
That's good, but it then appears as though the interval for checking the status of Facebook-related items is longer than it should be, or there are inter-departmental communication issues, as customers noticed the issue several days before you and/or Thantium acknowledged it.
I've delved in the OpenOffice API when working on a very obtuse problem involving something that worked through the GUI, but not programmatically unless you store off the user's selected document type and then temporarily set the document type on the local machine to OO's native document type, running the process, then setting the document type back to what the user had for their original choice, so I can relate to how it can take some time.Quote:

Apparently this issue is to do with fb changing a code and not telling evony, yet another excuse, wonder if we will get compensation for this???
If u send your gifts using any other browser other than IE there shouldn't be an error message appear for the receiver, the problem appears to be only with gifts sent thru IE .
correction , it seems only Chrome does work... however, sending from Chrome to another browser (Mozilla FF, IE whatever version) does not. Also all gifts from friends that you might receive in Chrome that were not sent with Chrome will crap out.
Chrome --> Chrome sending/receiving does work. FireFox/IE --> Chrome or Chrome --> FireFox/IE does not work.
I dont know why this is, Im not a programmer.
how bout some food reduction till its fixed, we are going to starve to death with out the "help" we normally get.
Personally I have lost over 200 gifts so far and find it to be a little annoying that this has still not need fixed I can understand things take time but when you have as many people playing your web based game as Evony does you would think they would move just a bit faster.
Right now i have 90 gifts in que and when this is all said to be fixed and i get another "this is not your gift" or other error i think i will just go back to the other games i used to play.
any news yet? i'm quite sure it was stated on the feedback site it would be sorted by friday ;)

We're still investigating some anomalies, in general though this *should* be working. I've personally gotten some complaints that say basically, "It isn't working, get it sorted!"
Unfortunately, this does nothing to aid me. If it isn't working, notate browser and version, flash version, server, and step by step method used.
well Dave i can tell you that from my point of view its better than it was, meaning the ratio of gifts that can be accepted now seems greater compared to the gifts that give the message "this is not your gift". but gifts are still coming through that cant be accepted and display that message.
Still not working for me:
Firefox: 8.0
Flash: 11.1.102.55
Server: NA37
Method, go to gift notification from Globe emblem on FB page top left. Accept Gift. If it works, server selection pops up. Then I go back to FB home page and repeat.
This seems to accept more gifts than going directly back to the gift page. I seem to lose about 25% of gifts, with the "This is Not Your Gift" pop up.
