lol, yah i would tell you what units work the best now...but like you said, not gonna say nothin bout nothin! cause, quite frankly if they nerfed it, goodbye game.
lol catapults are useless now for a few reasons..
1) to attack a lvl 10 npc now you would need well over 3-4k catapults (estimated guess) along with massive amounts of other units. Ha anyone else noticed that you cant feed a major army that would be needed to take on a lvl 10 npc?
2) You need ,what is it, 2 or 3 mich scripts to make them! Now idk about you all but i would spend my mich script on something more usefull like lvl 10 walls or lvl 10 acadamy or even lvl 10 rally spot! The better the walls the better the defences, Level 10 acadamy gives you privatering so you can farm players who have the brains to put their resources in a few warehouses, or lvl 10 rally spot so you can send more troops to attack someone else! either way these would all be better then making those crud things called catapults. I admit i have catapults but i got mine off the wheel of craptitude so its not like i really wanted them.
Just my 2 cents worth on this thread =p
Catapults are not worth it because of its ridiculous food upkeep.
Will this stupid player myth ever stop????
I am not going look up the several Post but one clearly said Ranged units """STOP""" When they have stuff in range. They do not keep moving to walls as some Wise guy once stated and so many jumped on the bandwagon when rocks got there extra range.
Your in luck I came across one of the postings.... listed below
If anything you want them to move faster """NOT SLOWER"""
Because if they move faster they do finally get into range and finally do get to fire instead of just be fired upon.
DON'T believe me? Rather believe the myth... Then ask the MODS and devs or go find the post I'm to lazy to look for...

Discussion by Troops in the Field.
Ballista Operator: Sir Sir Holy crap were taking fire from that tall wall but were not in range yet.
OFFICER: Well Son good thing you have far less than max horseback riding skill because you would then just be closer.
Ballista Operator: Sir He can hit me but he is to far away for me to hit... I think moving faster may get me in range before i die for naught.
OFFICER: Calm down man, I have it on good authority some player posted a myth that moving slower is best.
Ballista Operator: ZOMG, that's the dummiest thing i ever heard, I need to move faster so I can get in range. WERE I AM THEN TRAINED TO STOP... and hit back !!!
OFFICER: Interesting concept, but at least 100 people repeated the myth with no backing and ignored the DEV post on it... So Lets be lemmings and go with the flow here.
RANGED UNITS STOP. they don't move forward unless there not in range... And that's when you do want them moving as fast as possible.
Here's the caveat, though. Opposing troops move toward your ballistae, while your ballistae move forward. Once there are troops in range, they stop and unleash death. When the troops are gone, they'll inch forward again, until another advancing column is in their crosshairs. Then, once they're done with all the moving troops, they'll get in range to fire at the ATs. This "myth" has some credibility if ballistae move forward fast enough to fire at incoming troops, but at the same time ending up within range of the opposing ATs (which outshoot them). Just a theory, don't quote me on this. And no, I refuse to tear down my Academies to test this out. I'd rather take a few losses :D
But catapults are now fairly worthless overall since there is no sweet spot left for them
PRE & POST Patch one can farm a lev 5 with ballista only.
PRE Patch one could farm a lev 6 with catapults.
Now POST Patch you have catapults die on a lev 6.

It's not worth loosing that many catapults so not worth farming a lev 6. They should have left lev 6 at least as one sweet spot for a catapult.
As it is now there is nothing that can out range a lev 6 wall or higher.
Stop drinking the kool-aid man. For one I never said you said it or put you in a group. If I did show me were??? Since I did not you can't.
as for ****. NO sorry this is a open forum and I did learn the mechanics. Show me were i did not??? NO need for you to **** either. But I would suggest you learn to at least pretend to be correct.
At least correct even if sarcastic or mouthy is appreciated. Being full of crap is self explanatory...
Please toss me a fact, slather it in insult and ridicule and at least i can respect that.... Blow smoke up my backside and the mental image fits you to a "T". Get it, got it, good....
Man I hate a smoke blower. makes my hinny tickle...
Sometimes I feel like a kindergarten teacher...
Higher horseriding skill makes you faster yes? It makes you cover more ground per turn yes?
So why do you think a lower speed would be better than a higher speed when range gaps are very small between ballistae and towers on a lvl 6?
Grouping me with those idiots that said ranged units continue to move forward even when in range...that is just insulting. I shouldn't even have bothered to explain myself to you.
