Along with other skills dividing the 2, translators almost always work toward their own point of view, turning another's message into their own understanding.

I stand by the choice of words, since any event I view, I translate into my own understanding, not interpret it as what it actually was.

When I hear you say, that you translate the truth, I have to ask myself, from what language are you translating your truth from?

If english is the language from which you translate your truth from, then what language are you translating it into? Khalee'ish? Okay, then you win, you are therefore translating from one language into another. However, if you are taking a truth from english and making it your truth in english, then you are in fact interpreting the truth for your edification. nothing wrong with that.

Take this debate to any level you choose, be it Ethos, Pathos or Logos, yet one string will always remain the same ... The truth is what it is, and it is easy to know, should you not lie to yourself or get into the habit of lieing to others. I dont accuse you of lieing, however, just allowing you to know how I know what the truth is.

Honesty starts with what we tell ourselves. If we are honest with ourselves, then we have no problem being honest with others. One can know when one is lieing by spotting the error through trials. Once a falsehood has been noticed, then all words from that mouth are subject to scrutiny. Trust issues rear their ugly head, and solemn trust in that individual abates.

Purposely misleading another for your own personal gain = wrong to me.
Specifically omitting information to no end other than benefiting that of the other person = being tactful.

I think trying to be as honest as possible is a best practice, but you still have to take people's feelings, beliefs, and opinions into consideration.

I may see someone across the street and be taken aback that they are wearing something even I couldn't pull off, and I am half their size. Tact would dictate I don't walk over there and just exclaim "hey fatty, wear a bra and accept you're a size 14. I'm going to go blind!"

On the flip side, a lot of times people omit something or lie because they don't want to cause tension or an issue. That to me is selfish.

Our buddy works 6 days a week, comes home, and plays dad all night. He rarely gets time to himself, and he lies to his wife about where he is when he wants to do a coffee. Mainly because he doesn't want her to freak out and get mad when he believes he deserves an hour to hang out with his friends. He doesn't ask for much, usually a coffee once every week and a half-two weeks. It's ridiculous that he doesn't just say "hey, I'm going for coffee, I'll be late tonight". If that causes a fight they need to work it out as a couple, but to lie about it? That just makes the action itself even worse. I personally see nothing wrong with him getting some "him" time, but if she does they need to be honest about it instead of it blowing up 2 years later when she finds out he's been lying to her all along.

My final point... If I ask my husband "do I look fat" in something, and my husband is honest with me? I asked, I need to suck it up and deal with the answer. That double standard is unfair and breeds lies. We say we want honest but breed dishonesty by punishing those willing to offer truth when asked.

My brother who calls himself the king of albion speaks the truth but it takes certain requirements being met to see that and accept it for what it is. He, like me, hides the truth with humour and satire of self and the world but with good intent, (I sincerely hope) so not at anyone directly, unless they bring it upon themselves by repeated abuses aimed at others. To my brother I send a gentle warning to be aware of the danger the pitfall of the primary error. I have done it myself, more often than I ever realised but, that's ok. We all make mistakes from time to time and if we accept our errors and correct them, it's all good.


To everyone I have some freely offered advice on how to calm and silence the mind to allow time for quiet reflection.

Learn to reflect upon what is being discussed here and to see the reflection, you will need to calm the mind until it stills like the moon and the stars on the calm, still water of a pool or lake. Cleanse, be silent, prepare a place for quiet relection. Be silent. And dismiss the cares of the world and the noise of the mind as it enters your mind. Acknowledge the thought and put it aside to be dealt with at another time. Yes it will be dealt with and yes, that is important. But now you need time to relax and be calm and be silent. Contemplate the scene above if it helps and consider what is real and what reflects the real but can be distorted. Allow yourself time, even to accept these words and consider them. *Very important - don't forget to breathe.

There are other ways to calm the mind but this method easy and simple.
Perhaps the time will be ready to discuss that soon?
