Most of us are not suggesting comforting be removed entirely but that limits be placed on it so that eventually you have to either get some ri or give up the city. A period of 6 hours between your city reaching 15 loy and comforting no longer able to keep the city above 0 is more then long enough to move troops and setup a defense.
This is how the game should work. You port to lvl 16 enemy hc when you know the owner is offline asleep and break it because he didn't have enough troops there. In 1 hour and 30m give or take you claim the city because the guy holding it didn't have enough army to survive long enough for his allies to reinforce him or get ahold of him on skype/telephone.
How it actually works. You port to enemy hc under same circumstances but after clearing it through self regenerating layers and walls the city is bombarded with 30 small scout waves carrying gold/food every 15-30 minutes. While your wasting time trying to beat a bot a human MIGHT bother account sharing to check on things and load up just enough troops to play gate games with your cav loyalty but keep them closed on any real hits.
This second scenario is the only one you will likely encounter and what the comforting changes are needed to address. I believe the players who want to sit behind closed gates 24/7 and not fight are in the minority and if a balance can be found for thoose who only use comforting as a stop gap until troops can be marched and thoose who are tired of infinite bot comfort is found we will have our solution. But know this. A fix is coming so you'd do well to start offering ideas as to how you think it should be changed rather then simply saying it doesn't need a fix because it does.
