Lately, everyone has complained about recent range updates, etc. etc. I myself have been one of them, but here is my take on the situation now...
First of all, what fun would a game be if it wasn't challenging?
Everyone complains that an enemy city is now impossible to defeat once it reaches a certain level, but that is not true, it simply takes more effort to do it, and we seem to have gotten used to the "having everything handed to us on a silver platter" ideal in this game.
We got so used to scout spamming flats and raking in a hundred medals an hour that we thought the game ruined once medals became a rare drop.
We got so used to spamming Barbarian cities and becoming filthy rich with no effort, and no consequences that we thought the game was ruined once NPCs became harder to defeat.
Now we obviously just think the game is headed downhill.
This is only true for those that wish to play a game that is simple, takes no thought, and can be ruled by the most idiotic person here.
Let me ask, when you think of the medieval ages, do you see any well fortified castle being taken in two hours with no losses on the opposition's side? Even in those days I think well aimed projectiles could take down some catapults at least.
So these recent updates do not ruin the game, they push it more to the way it is meant to be played.
We sit around, and build up until we feel like we can take out our enemies with no losses, but when in history has this been true?
Now we must get into the action at an early stage, and not sit around playing Sim City. Battles are not all meant to be won by one side in a war. Now maybe the smaller players will get the sense that they need to be involved in fighting simply to prevent their enemies from growing larger, when before we all sat around until we had armies of hundreds of thousands of archers and then we picked out a weak target while we left alone those that might be a match for us.
This is an offensive game, and I don't honestly believe that people were meant to be able to sit there and build up level 10 walls with 18,333 AT's without being attacked once during the whole period (Which ironically is how it has been with me on Server 5).
Basically, here is my conclusion for those people too lazy to read...
Quit playing The Sims and start fighting instead of crying!
