And for those noobs out their who are getting attacked and have no hope it is usually wise to enter a pretty strong alliance and teleport to where they are located
I was once one of these noobs but now im in alliance UPRISE in server 5, an officer, and currently with 124k prestige.
haha you said bacon... mmmm baconnn uhuhuhuhuhuhuh. That would distract an enemies marching army who has been starving... a tower of bacon!
I recommend new people just accept they will be plundered, don't raise your town hall above level 3 in new cities you make... stay hidden and below the radar of players looking for larger cities... they might pass you over completely if you don't show up as a city with walls on the map.
For a beginner player, the first few heroes may have random stats and they may not have a really attack hero. The highest politics may still have the highest attack. Also the attack hero may be out attacking, when I was starting out I might send out an attack on a valley and then forget and go to bed, my attack hero was sitting there all night. Lot's of reasons it could happen...
There is a trick to beacon towers, notice when the tower is about level 5 or 6 you don't get troop descriptions, but you get a --- on certain troop types so you know what is coming at least, and it's easy to guess if this is a quick raid or an intended takeover by the type of troops. You can also use this to decide whether to open the gates or not.
Make it a priority to build transporters, or at least sufficient workers. You can hide your goods by either sending them to a nearby flat you have captured or by choosing "Camp" and camping for several hours until the attackers have gone. Then cancel the trip and you get most of your food back too.
Setting the warehouse 100% food is an important tactic. It also lets you keep food on hand to use comforting when your loyalty starts to drop. If you keep comforting your town, it's nearly impossible for the enemy to capture you as long as you are willin to babysit all night and keep track of 15 minutes going by. When loyalty drops to 10 attacks aren't affecting loyalty anymore, just grievance. Comforting lowers the grievance by 15. Grievance + Loyalty + Tax rate = 100, so if you set taxes to 0 you can keep your city as long as you are paying attention, and you have some food in your warehouse.
If you have a smaller village, and someone is trying to capture your larger town, they will usually ignore the smaller one because they don't want to capture it by mistake. So it is usually safe to move stuff there, but keep your attention on both cities of course. The larger town is the more valuable, and they can't take your last town so they don't want the small one.
If you are being attacked repeatedly, and you can't get support, for example you can't find a strong alliance nearby, or your entire alliance is busy with a war already. Shut down your resource production, and lower your tax rate to nil, just enough to pay your heroes. Build a handful of troops at a time, and a handful of wall defences every few hours. It is a pittance, but what happens to your enemy? They spend a large amount of food sending troops, and get nothing to show for it but a few arrows in their rear. You may cost them very few losses, but they are losing resources by attacking you, so this is effective guerilla defence. Eventually they will get bored of getting no return on their investment and move to another target. Then you can start building again.
noobs need to know 3 things, imo, to defend themselves just after protection:
1.Resources-build as many resource fields as you can and level them up as much as you can. Build just enough troops to take valleys(the higher, the better) but do not come out of protection trying to be a war mongerer.
2.Research-keep your academies going 24/7 if you can. You can gain the needed gold by selling the resources from step 1. Focus on the 4 resources, archery, and informatics first.
3.Archer Towers/Walls-get your walls up as far as possible as fast as possible. get to Archery 3 ASAP so you can build Archer Towers. Build maybe 100-200 traps and abatis and then build as many Archer towers as you can. They are your single best defense in an attack and the best deterrent to someone looking to attack you.
you said not to get your town hall up more than 3, but as you know, you will need resource fields to get more resource buildings-to improve production rate. and how are you going to take your production rate at good number if u have only 3 valleys?
i recommend to build and upgrade two cities when you are in beginners protection only-and develop them simultenously, or as i have done-make sure that your defence in main is maximum and the best you can have then start building or conquering other city.
1st is it true? which hero defends city? I thought it was the mayor. If not then who? Does the system actually take the best hero to defend your city even if that is the mayor? What does the system consider the best hero? some would say just attack stat and some may say level combined with attack stat?
There was a post saying don't build your town hall or walls, this sounded like misinformation and a desire to actually create what they said they were trying to help avoid.
best advice whilst in protection increase your ability to build resources whilst following the quests, the quests even have join an alliance. If you don't have a hero, that is something you need to do asap. also look at evonywiki.
you all forget the marketplace...
put yr resources in the market... set a high price, no1 will buy them, after attack is over you just cancel the order and you get yr resources back...
the gold you just transport to 1 of your valleys which is not close by. set camptime and recall when the attack is over.
reason for a valley not too close by: enemy might hit that valley right next to you because he might guess the tactic and hit the valley
You are correct that this no longer works. The game apparently now assumes that goods which are still "for sale" are still located in your city.
So putting resources up for sale while an attack is pending, with the plan of cancelling the sell order later will see those goods plundered.
