How to use a Rally Spot Exercise
Most players know that you can not trust the rally spot exercise, so I went in to figure out how to get it to work.
Things to know:
1. No tech, not even yours, is taken into account in the Exercise.
2. No heroes in exercise.
3. It is easiest to do this against NPC's
First we have the scout of lvl 3 flat to make it simple; 63 warriors and 21 pikemen and 14 swordsmen. I test in the rally spot to see the minimum casualties. 46 is it. ok, so what can I send to get that minimum but keep enough troops behind for a different attack.
269 is the magic number. So I send it.
Battle
So I lost 23 more than I was told. hmmm.
I go back to the exercise and see what amount of enemies could do this.
This is where we take into account the fact it is a lvl 3 flat. Multiply my army by .7 and see what we get.
It turns out the exercise says 53 losses, not 46. Where did I get .7?
My techs where lower.
What if we do a more drastic situation? Lets see....
Run Two
This time with my older account, with higher level everything and able to scout lvl 8's - Desert:
Lvl 20 hero, 1014 pikes, 676 archers
Exercise says 7550 Warriors works (For minimum casualties). I send them.
Low attack hero, 66 attack
Battle
Less casualties than I thought, 2749 is the exercise and 2174 is what happened. Lost 575 less. And why?
We have almost equal tech, but two important things made a difference:
Higher Life
Higher Speed
When I times both enemy numbers by .8 (-.1 per tech higher) I get 2194 casualties, only 20 off. Coincidence? I think not.
Run three
One more, this time with my new account, against a far higher level place (Lvl 5) Desert
I am attacking this desert thinking I wil only lose 384 out of 1050 men. Lets see what will happen.
Battle:
I lost a whole 520 men, 136 more than the exercise said.
So how do I get this number? Well on the exercise, if I multiply my army by .55, you get 531 dead, only 11 off.

The tech level difference (Of the ones that matter) = 14.
.50 multiplier (On self)
So how do we get the values to multiply our armies by?
Here you go.
If you have higher techs, multiply the enemy by .8 - (.05*(4-difference in tech levels)*
If you have lower techs, multiply your army by .8 - (.05*(4-difference in tech levels)*
Negatives for tech difference = 0
Now, my third battle disagrees with this. This means that the level 5 desert hero probably just had a higher attack than my hero. Post results if this proves succsessful to you.
Test Run: I am trying my theory on a lvl 4 flat with my lesser account. I will see if I can predict my real losses.
lvl 4 flat
217 warriors, 49 archers
test says I will lose 198 men if I send 1000.
difference in techs = 10
Multiply my army by .5 = losing 317 men instead.
I predict I will really lose 317 men
Result
I lost 336, over 130 away from the guess made by the machine. I was within 19 by my guess.
Now, on battle two, I have .5 instead of .55. If you run .5 through the exercise, you see that the 525 troops are wiped out. So I adjusted to see if I could meet the number, and .55 was the magic number.
This means that to be sure you will win, try multiplying your army above and below by .5 (.55,.5 and .45)
This is an attempt to get the exercise to work, and I use it alot. See if it helps you, and at the very least, it will get you closer.
Medal Guide for NEW SERVERS ONLY
If you are on server number 15 or below, don't even bother posting here.
After a week and half of attacks and reading multiple accounts of medal postings, I feel I'm safe in saying the following.
1. There is no doubt that the 'newer' (16 and higher) servers have drastically different medal drops than older servers. There may be hiccups in between here. I've ready that server 13 has some of the same problems, but server 14 does not.
2. There is no doubt that this is intentional. Yes, Evony deliberately runs some of its servers differently than others.
3. On the older servers, the old methods work. On the newer servers, they don't. If you are on server 16 or higher, disregard all posts having to do with newer servers.
4. Warrior loss increases chance of finding a medal. FALSE- On the newer servers it appears that the drops are entirely by chance, anywhere from .5% to 2% chance of a drop, based off an unknown set of standards.
Warrior death DOES increase prestige. I've confirmed this with NPC level 1 and 2 cities. Attack with 60 ballista, plenty of transports, and 500 warriors. The warriors bite it, you earn prestige. If you don't bring the warrior and suffer no losses, no prestige. Makes perfect sense. Oh sure martha, it was a tough battle, none of the warriors made it, poor chaps.
5. High intelligence in a hero increases chances. Anecdotal at best, refer back to the low percentage of drops.
6. Evony is a business. They want you to buy medals. The only GOOD thing about the horrid rate of medal drops is everyone on the new servers is *&@#$%@ equally.
7. DO NOT BOTHER TO Promote yourself any higher than LT. Save the medals for advancement to You should end up with enough in gifts to get to baronet, which will give you three cities. I haven't seen anything hinting that its worth it to go from LT to Capt or Major.
8. Don't expect any help from evony representatives or customer service.
