I've probably built 40+ NPCs around my cities, not quite half of those I actually placed a city to then abandon. Most were the cities of vanquished enemies. Of course there was most likely 100 or more abandoned cities elsewhere in temporary attack cities. I think NPCs are stupid, its a game flaw and had I the choice (and not a strong incentive to future raiding) I would raze my enemy's cities to the ground.
They are a problem, and a real pain to deal with. I still raid because if I don't I lose ground on the power curve with enemies. BUT, I also am surrounded by NPCs because they offer some protection from teleporting attackers. I want my attackers to come from a distance because while I am not on they get the advantage of no one seeing the attack, once they hit my alliance will see this War Report and have ample time to respond.
How can you call this a war game if I can't even prevent my near vicinity from magically generating an enemy with a full stocked city in my backyard is a millisecond?
The ideas about lake wars is a good one, but we also need more valleys to go around. My solution is quite simple, do away with the distinction between flat and valley. Make every space a useful acquisition, and make the defense mechanisms more reasonable. If that were the case I would gladly trade the 40 NPCs with valleys I could defend and prevent teleporting attackers from appearing.
Huge armies is only a problem now because defense is invulnerable. If I could launch a 500k archer army against a 250k archer defended city, then it wouldn't matter how big of an army we could all build. Additionally, enabling joint armies with alliance members would be much better for this sort of thing.
Very simple to do
take Game GM and GM helpers and make them run what is now NPC citys
put a little REAL I in the AI of NPC's
also change map positioning of towns to
if y is odd then x is even or if y is even x is odd avoid town clustering without radical changes
also take border cells between states and make them all VALLEYs
also states need to be referenced as HEX cells not SQUARE cells
on server 16 for instance
Southern areas are
|_| square moves
hex cells would allow Bohemia to fall where it belongs
between Franconia and Thuringa some how its east of North March
i can as in other post produce short movies and custom pixs
however a developer should already know the diff
between quadratic math and fibonacchi series
and x y mapping and x y cords with hex cell movements

however the current state of client is decent

In a short while I willpost my summary of what i see
so far top on list is
players with first town from TH 4 - 7 game needs balancing
early game th 1 thru quests to Th 4 .. nothing really needs changing here
players that get to TH 7 early .. they learn :)
Catapults require alot of MA's (michaelangelo's) to enable
just 1 barracks to produce.. they move slow but hit hard
having players receiving MA's in ammy spins as frequent as I see it happening
Server 8 Server 16 World 16 and Server 2
means as a player, who does spend a reasonable amount of $$
to compensate for database entries and bandwidth loads
on F2P servers, would never try to
spend cash to compete with random luck of some players who never spend
at all...
The game is running pretty well and rather than deal with armies and food issues
thinking its a problem
how about click on resource Icons and load market on that tab?
how about click on TH and see Valleys as default?
how about remove honor medals from drops and boxes and make
it quest based?
ex: get x amt of honor and get 1 medal
redeem 1 medal get 2 QUEST
then get x amt of honor get another medal
stop making shake n bake Barons in 2 nd week of server
and more players will stay and more will spend money
make the world chat a seperate server...
place all player accounts on world server
players with out unique MAC's and IP's will trigger multi alerts
if its 2 people on 2 cpu's using a MAC from a router thru same ISP
a GM or GM helper can resolve issue
of course that means Evony needs people in every game
to monitor public chat and deal with possible expolit issues
I have already outlined several ways to do this at basically
cost to code and I can code it if needed.
by making world chat a single server channel : less people needed
other posts outline other benefits like Vaction modes
with item to start and item required if used 72 hrs after cooldown
or 30 days auto return from a TRUCE state.
also new players could see all servers world chats
and thus new item .. teleport to any game server
Eventually all new players and protected players would be
on the Protected server IN CHAT
and Beginners would select the server to teleport to
as they grew familiar with game.
NO world chat in a game server would greatly reduce bandwidth consumption
Of course players without alliances or Host and Vice hosts of alliances
would need to be able to use speakers in world chat
for obvious reasons
That is easy World Chat as seperate TAB with verifiable login from an existing server
Also after an alliance mate purchased coins thri your mini special for 1st time purchase ..(and no reward bonus) i emailed nathan and got a server rejection for a few hrs finally said it was accepted by server how ever unverified

Aeria Games and Entertainment has loved my input over the
last few years including canning Dreamlords in Beta after I found Beta 3
code in their so called special client for AG&E
But when i purchase 50 coins for $5 and get 250 coins
undisclosed by any site link or display
or email .. said i bought 50 cents
and then repeat the purchase for my youngest son and get 250 cents for him by
mini premium
then tell another person how to do it and they spend $5.00 and get 50 cents
and site says they used premium rewards after purchasing
and then lack of response by Evony forces this player into a no win paypal
dispute because the reciept is for the delivered 50 cents
even my 250 cents rewards say 50 cents in reciept
then I get in a position to just not recommend any spending to others

I think i see where this game is going. and if it continues to be like this, then ill just leave it in a few days, like all the other unbalanced games out there. you guys can play this game all you want, i could not care less, while playing more well defined games. all the people exploiting the poor game mechanics can just exploit alone.

The only change I would make is to keep low level npcs poorer to discourage constant raids. The replenish rate is so high attacking them is too profitable. High level players are replenishing so fast because alliance members are able to farm npcs.
