Hate to beat a dead horse but wtf devs? Why even allow us to attack other players?

The range bonus on level 10 walls is just insane. There's really no reason to attack players at all if they have level 9/10 walls and archers/towers.
So this screenshot is of an ally who has all level 10 techs, used a 10% attack + 10% defense buff and a 155 attack hero. 125,000 archers gone just like that and the only thing to show for it are 7k swordsmen dead.
Only 5 rounds which meant that the archers didn't even get a single volley of arrows off. The swordsmen ran into them before they even made it to the wall and the dead swordsmen are a result of hand to hand combat with the archers I guess.
So once you get all researches to level 10 the game's over right? Take a level 10 barb town here and there and then what? You can't win battles by attacking people... Do you play the "hey let's make people mad so they attack us and die at our walls" game? Do you just continue to farm barb towns? Really what is there to do if we can't attack other players?
/edit/ before anyone asks, the guy who sent the attack KNEW he would lose all 125k archers. he had 5 waves of 125k archers and we had several other ally members sending waves of 90k archers + ballista. after we saw the results of this battle everyone recalled. even when attacking as a team (what alliances are supposed to do) we would all just be wasting tons of troops to knock out some swordsmen each round.
