I am guessing her ex attended these same family functions with her at some point. I am guessing she was partaking of the alcoholic beverages a bit. I am guessing that the simple combination of the familiarity of having a guy with her at a family thing and the fuzzing of her brain is what caused the slip-ups. I am sure she's dreadfully embarassed and upset at having done that. Probably if you would let it go and stop making her cry, you would put an end to an ugly situation.
On the other hand, if she did it "when" Nerevar suggested, whole other story.
Been there done that Drizz, all you can do is pretend it didn't happen and at a time when everything is calm just slip a little reminder in there that that is not your name.
Easiest way to prevent a fight and get the point across.
Or throw your beer at her and go "WHAT DID YOU CALL ME?!"
Wanna know what you do here, drizz? You take her to a family event (your family) and call her by one your ex's names. (twice in 6 hours)
Didn't say it was the right way to do things, but thats what I'd do. Sure she'll call ya an a-hole, but you'll feel better.
I was just gonna say that. Use it as ammo! For once the guy has some ammo! I'd start calling out different names during an *ahem* heated moment and see how she reacts.
Start yelling "Candy! Oh Candy!"
