You do not want to try to fill up your walls during newbie protection. Building level 7 walls with no fortifications is far better then building level 4 walls will full fortifications both strategically and practically.
The reason is simple. Archers get a big giant buff per wall level. Archers are cheep. Archers can be made from 45 buildings at a time rather easily during newbie protection, while fortifications can only be made from 3. Most importantly, archers can be moved, which means they can be consolidated.
If you max out level 4 fortifications and someone attacks you, you can not move all the fortifications from three towns into the targeted city. You can however do just that with archers.
Again Kemp, you need to learn to think strategically. Building and upgrading farms is about the worst advice possible in this situation.
Server 26 is brand new. Go and take a look at the market prices. The sell now price for lumber is .251 The buy now price for food is .02. That means producing one lumber and selling it at market, then using the gold to buy food is the same as producing 12 food. Producing 100k wood an hour is the same as producing 1,200,000 food per hour.
Sawmills require the same number of workers as farms, and build at only a slightly slower rate. For the first six to eight weeks one lumber equals five to ten food, depending on market fluctuations, and is always at least three food. Any way you slice it, during newbie protection having 1 level 6 sawmill is like having 5 level 9 farms.
The math is simple. 1 level 6 sawmill makes 2100 wood an hour. Wood sells at .251.
1 level 9 farm makes 4500 food an hour, so 5 level 9 farms makes 22,500 food an hour, which you can buy for .02.
2100 wood x .251 = 527 gold.
22,500 food at .02 gold = 450 gold.
Thus 1 level 6 sawmill can get you more food then 5 level 9 farms.
You only think a mech batt is impossible to defend against because you have never given evony a cold strategic evaluation. A mech batt is nothing. If you do not use it to NPC farm, it is a liability.
Only newbies fear siege when they come in numbers of less then 400.
