I was always a big fan of just throwing a chili-cheese burger at them and then watching them 'fetch'.
Chili-cheese burgers? Pitiful fool. Real men eat chiles on their burgers. Red hot chiles. Burning, volcano-like red hot chiles.
You may want to consider Capoera. It is a Brazillian style of fighting that is fast and effective. I am 5'5 and practice it, though it is actually better suited for people who are a bit taller, as it bases your center of gravity lower to the ground. Though if you are fast enough like I am it doesn't really matter. One of the main requirements for practicing this style though is that you have a LOT of leg strength! Most of the moves the style uses are leg based, and you will rarely hit with your fists. Though you will need to also have upper body strength to do some of the more complicated in the air moves, such as when you would do a partial hand stand and attack with your legs in the air. It is recomended that you have at least one part of your body, even just a finger, touching the ground at all times though, as being completely in the air is impractical and can lead to loss of balance which can be deadly in a real fight.
Because when using this style you will rarely use your hands and arms to fight it is also recommended that you choose another style which would be practical and compatible with Capoera. I chose kick boxing. Depending on what moves your opponent throws at you, you should alternate between the styles, using moves from each which would more effectively counter your opponent. For defense I have found that my altered kick boxing style works best. But for offensive moves I would definitely use Capoera, as it is quicker and more deadly. However it takes quite a while to properly learn it, and if you do not learn it properly you could seriously injure yourself. You may want to take basic training in a few other styles also, so as to be prepared to alternate between them when it is called for. Other alternate styles that I have taken the basics in and found to work well with my main one include Thai Muay, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Silat.
Good luck! And I hope you find a style that suits you!
you could kick me anytime
For self defense I like to use a 12 gauge. But in terms of fighting, Taekwondo is a good self defense class. Just don't go somewhere where they will hand you a belt for $50.
You could just get a gun. Or a BIGGER gun. Like, a machine gun. Or a machine shotgun... that would be sweet.
