hey Mike, thanks for your input on the matter. Its nice when some order is reestablished.
Mike,
I know it would be irksome to reply to all the threads that called for a representative, but even a few more replies like this (and some evidence that it has been looked into) and the whole mood of the forum would change.
I am not saying you can fix the whole game overnight - but it would make people feel listened to.
There ARE some good Evony Representatives, I just think we would like them to be more positive when they post and explain a little more what and why they are doing it - like closeing the Beta program with no warning and no explanation.
Thank you for looking into the matter and well done for restoring some of my faith.
Thanks for your comments. I read everything.
And Dawnseeker is around, trust me. I'm the new guy so I'm more "in the trenches" ;)

Ok folks, here is our response to the medal drops on new servers:
Thank you,
Mike
Yes, we have seen that quote posted in several places. We all know that the real reason is to force people to pay money or become farms and quit.
The new drop rate is a joke. I have now made over 2,000 attacks, across 3 servers...I have gotten 2 TWO medals.
There is no longer any sense of enjoyment to theis game, because of this. The game has become just another job. This is exactly what is driving thousands of players to quit. If it is not fixed, thousands more will quit.
It is a simple fact...people play web-games to relax and have fun. THere is no fun left left in this game, and therefore no longer any reason to play.
I'm sorry, and you can give me an infraction for this if you feel like it, but it needs to be said.
This line about "wanting to slow down the gameplay" is the single biggest piece of BS since King Clinton claimed that he did not have sex with that woman. It is also an insult to the intelligence of everyone who plays this game on a scale that is beyond belief.
If the Devs had truly wanted to slow down the gameplay they would have removed the Medal Boxes from the Shop. Instead, because people CAN be forced into buying medals, on server 27 we have a full page of Earls and above, while those of us who refuse to be FORCED into buying these medals are stuck being Knights forever.
This move was made ONLY to make money. There was NO other reason for it, and anyone who believes otherwise is a fool.
Just to be perfectly clear here...if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, and smells like a duck, then it is not a North American Golden Eagle, no matter how many times a member of the Audabon Society tells you that it is.
I'm going to be a little nicer but agree 100%
Lower them to slow the pace of the game: fine
Lower them to around 1% from 20%?

If I'm wrong I'm sorry, but it screams "grab all the money we can while we still can."
If you cut it down to 5% i could even understand that. Knights would still be in trouble, but at least they could get 2 cities with lvl 8 rally points and send out 16 valley armies at a time. Then they'd get one every 20 minutes or so they sat in front of the game spamming armies at lvl x valleys. As it stands now, if you don't get super lucky on the wheel, or buy medal boxes (by the way, if you want to sell medals, sell individual medals. I'd give you guys a buck for the last honor i need on s23), you have to either spam attacks for about 3-4 hours a day or you might as well go play Tetris.
100% agreed. If you really wanted to slow it down make each successive city cost reams more resources (have to choose army over city). That would slow down progression and even add some strategic decisions. If a 3rd city cost as much in resources as a decent army at the same stage then folks would have to plan for it. Some players might go on the offensive others might turtle. Either way it would encourage PvP instead of mindless valley farming.
The medal drop rate is simply ridiculous. I'm playing on one of the newer servers and currently ranked 13th. I've launched 100's (nearing 1000) of attacks on valleys methodically trying every half baked theory on how to get a rose medal. None work, it seems to just be pure random low percentage odds. I've received some but you need 10 rose and 5 lion (minus awards).
And that's the fundamental problem. Knowing I have to work for a week or more to gain resources is one thing. Wondering whether it'll take a week or more of mindlessly attacking valleys in the hopes of getting lucky is another.
If this is the game and advancement rate you truly want for folks who refuse to spend $24 on a medal box then fine, I'll find another game. I'll happily donate money to an indy dev company that makes a good game, I refuse to pay for a poorly designed one.
edit: The poor design comment is two fold. One it's an incredibly weak mechanic to pace game play. Two for god's sake somebody officially announce it's a .5% or whatever drop rate and no it doesn't matter what valley type or no it doesn't matter if you have losses or no it doesn't matter if you capture the valley. Not knowing if anything makes a difference is one of the more frustrating (as in not ##$#@ fun) aspects and it's very hard to discern a pattern at those low percentages.
