Lessons from Blegemoth - Lesson 1
For what its worth, todays lesson is:
How to have fun and joke around on a forum
Hi kiddies! In todays lesson, we're going to learn the difference between being a vitreous hater, and having a joke. Now pay attention, because what you learn today will become a valuable asset for the rest of your life!
There is a difference between messing around and poking fun in a jovial spirit, and just being outright poisonous. Let me give you some examples:
Making Fun
Making fun is when you use humor without directly offending any particular person. The best way to accomplish this is to make fun of yourself in the process and that is a CLEAR indicator to others, that you are not serious and that you're simply messing around.
Here's an example that I'll just pull from the top of my head. It may or may not be factual.
"Hey I don't want girls to play because I got PWNED".
The above example becomes quite funny when the person making the statement lost their whole army to a girl. In effect the statement admits defeat in a humerous manner, but does not directly insult anyone. If anything, any girl reading such a statement would have a smirk on her face and think: "Yeah, we rock!"..
Being Vitreous and Poisonous
Now we will learn what is not funny. If you make a comment to someone calling them a name personally, or tell them that they are an idiot, or a dumbass -- it is not very nice.
It is also not very nice to insist that someone be perma-banned, or to have a thread closed. This is evidence that you are not willing to have fun, but actually more interested in being vitreous.
If anyone has any questions about how not to be nasty when someone is messing around, feel free to reply here.
Have a nice day kiddies! Don't forget to brush your teeth!
