This will help a little bit, but the more important concern is that you are getting virtually nothing for paying the same amount of money that it costs to play real rpgs.

This is the biggest problem in the game here!
I don't give a damn about what the ratio is, but it needs to be done in a way that spending 5 bucks will actually have an impact on the game. As it is now, you can drop 5 bucks on this game and not even notice the difference.
Also I want it to be known, the only item I give a damn about getting is the advanced teleporter! I want to be able to play with my friends. I would pay money for the ability to play this with my friends, but not $20. This game is not worth 20 dollars.
To say the game pricing is out of whack by a factor of 10 doesn't even cover it. I've played a pretty good amount of browser games and have been willing to pay probably for half a dozen of them.
I'll take Travian as an example. For $24 you get 600 gold in Travian. With this gold you can purchase production bonuses (as well as other things.) A 25% bonus on all four resources costs you a total of 20 in-game gold per week. In real money that comes out to $.80 per week.
For the same bonuses in Civony you have to pay 50c (that's $5) PER RESOURCE per week for the same bonus.
$20/week compared with $.80/week. WHAT are the devs smoking?
Bump.
This needs to be fixed.
there are 3 basic types of player.
1st pays for what they want and doesn't care much about the price.
2nd pays what they can afford IF they feel they are getting a bargain.
3rd doesn't pay anything
the game is priced for #1, they will keep shelling out money to stay on top.
feel free to argue why prices should be lowered so that 2nd class players would spend more, but my guess is that enough psych. research has been applied to determine that this is the optimal pricing to make money. basic premise is whether ya wanna sell 1000 things for $10, or 10 things for $1000.
my 2 cents worth, anyway
well, I'd guess it costs $20 a week...hehe
seriously, ever been to a restaurant where a 12 oz. prime rib is $70? fewer customers, but plenty of profit.
same theory here, game coins are priced for the elite... they are worth that much more if 90% of the player base does not have them. I doubt complaining will change it, but good luck nonetheless.
THANK YOU for this thread!
this has been bugging me for quite some time....i've played several browser games & i'm not hesitant to spend money on a game that I enjoy.....I have already spent 65 american dollars for this game, and i totally regret spending this money, i see no significant benefit i recieved for spending all this money, the items you can purchase are a VERY short temporary benefit in general. even at a 10-1 ratio, i think the game is still a little overpriced, but much more livable, i would probably buy more cents in the game if it was a 10-1 ratio.
the $3k comment, OMFG i saw the exact same thing and i was like WTF?, that kinda gives you a hint as to the player base they want to cater too.....however, this player base don't typically troll the "Free forever" games, they pay the insane prices for the PS3 & console games.
I GUARENTEE the price of cents will go down, it HAS too, i see no advertisements on the site, so they will only be getting their money from people who pay, I think almost anyone who has already spent money on the game will see little impact on their city's overall growth & will not purchase again, as these purchases decline (and i'm sure they already have) the dev's will see that game currency needs to be dropped down.
This is however a large change to the economy ingame, and i'm sure they are already talking about it, but anyone with good business sence wouldn't make a change this large without looking at all possibilities & impacts that this change might have.
I don't think they realized the game would be this popular, as evidant by the introduction of server 2 so quickly after the game came out, the fact they already looking for more mods, and all the lag on server 1, they just have some intricaties that need hashed out.
1 other thing though, if they make it more along the lines of a 1-1 ratio for cents, they HAVE to credit those of us who paid already to play the difference, because if not i'm certain they will loose some of their "paying" player base right off the bat (i'm sure i'll even stop playing if they increased the value of the dollar to cents but didnt' credit me)
tyvm
Somebody pointed it out earlier - the whole michelangelo scripts thing is BS. It's a FREE BROWSER GAME! To get anywhere once you get to the "level 10" thing, you have to pay hundreds upon hundreds of dollars! For each level above level 10, you have to use a script. That is BS! A lot of us CANT play because of that CRAP. I'm actually probably going to be forced to quit Civony since I can't go above the Level 10 thing. (Again BS!) This game is dedicated to "rich" gamers - most of which don't exist, except for a few kids, and they'll go buy a few Wiis, PS3's, Xbox 360s, etc. What need do they have to play browser games? The whole point of browser games is so that they are FREE! WITH "buy enhanced gameplay". It's all bullcrap.
I hate the prices too, WAY to high:mad:
