Woah, cool. I don't think they'll be nesting under Edinburgh lol. I live close to the City Centre. I might see some at my holiday home in Kingussie.
once lived in a house that had the lawn infested with wolf spiders, was a little dangerous for the kids.
Just seen an article about Wolf Spiders infesting in Abernethy (where Kingussie is). Scary :p
its water horse you non'animalplanetwatchingboob.. water HORSE
Ok, water horse, my mistake lol
Spiders scare the everlovin' daylights out of me. Even pictures of them make my skin crawl. Ugh.....
And I was bit by a brown recluse a few weeks back. Pretty sure that's what it was, anyways. I never saw the spider, but I had been laying down in the grass on my lawn and the next morning I had a good bite mark, all swollen and nasty. Within 24 hours, it started necrotizing (the tissue around it died and I ended up with a pretty good size hole in my arm) and it hurt like anything. Ended up doing some home surgery on it....cut out the dead parts and some surrounding tissue....and doused it every hour with peroxide and it healed up within a week or so. But yeah, I am NOT a fan of spiders. Ever. In any form.

The river hippopotamus was described by Linnaeus in 1758. Despite their placid and clumsy appearance, river hippos can be aggressive towards humans, and there are many reports of small boats being overturned and their occupants being bitten to death. Hippos (or crocodiles, depending on who you talk to) are said to kill more people in Africa than any other animal.
Hippos (Greek) a horse; potamos (Greek) a river. Amphi (Greek) around, on both sides; bios (Greek) living, manner of living: meaning living on both sides i.e., on land and in water.

Hippos are like SUPER MEAN aggresive DEADLY .. they kill more people than like any other aminal
why is it awesome to be bitten by a deadly Spider? it is deadly. that is bad. death is baaaaaad! unless you are like the grim reaper cause then it's awesome cause you're all like, Give me Your soul! but other than that it would suck
Black widow bites are rarely fatal unless you are allergic to them. There is an antivenom, but it can only be used once in a lifetime. Not quite sure why. However, back to the bite. The descriptions of black widow bites are excruciating, but only make you wish you were dead. Having been bitten you will build up a tolerance against the results of future bites.
More to be aware of are brown recluse bites which can cause many problems including messing with your heart.
Both are considered as part of the cobweb spider family.
Hope this helps.
umm
not very... actually...
I have extensively researched this in the past...
it generaly only is fatal when the bite occurs in areas in which I can not mention here...
The death rates were higher in the past because bathrooms weren't very clean and were outside where spiders could nest in the toilet...
Um.............nevermind lol
yeah, some parts of the body are targeted more heavily from different locations... the location I am referring to targets the kidneys and liver i think...
and I think it also allows the venom to propagate through the body more efficiently and thoroughly...
I havent looked this up in a while so it may not be accurate, but its close enough...
EDIT: I did some research... appearantly age has a much greater factor, generaly the usual 'at risk' group (young children and babies and elderly people) is more likely to die...
