Whoa there tiger. The reason you gave is ONE reason SOME people play games. It's one reason I do myself. Another reason I play is because I'm competitive, and I like to win. All games, even single player ones, are inherently competitive. People play for many reasons, and good games cater to all of them. Niche games cater to some. If you don't like conflict with other people, go buy a copy of Sim City or something. Seems like you are saying you don't like PvP and neither do a lot of people, therefore you should be allowed to play PvP games your way and not have to deal with any of the repurcussions of, well, PvP. If that's what you're saying, go find a nice non PvP game. I can recommend a few if you like.
I'm not seeing your argument. Is it that, for you, a game is FUN only when there is no conflict or competition? Is it that, uh...apparantly since some bad things have happened over the course of human history, therefore average Joe's...I give up. I hardly think that 'Go join the army if you want realism' = 'Therefore its awesome that there is no way to actually fight anyone in a game ultimately based on fighting, land, and resource acquisition'.
Do you have a real argument? Because this makes little sense.
Seems like y'all are just ticked that you were drooling over the noob cities under BP and some of them didn't turn out to be the easy prey you were hoping for.
In a game like this where your power is pretty much directly related to how long you've been playing on the server, giving the new guy a fighting chance to keep his stuff from the predators isn't a bad thing.
So let me get this straight...
The OP is upset because he can't succeed at a massive continual schoolyard bully attack, wave after wave, because his victim is smart enough to make it not worth the OP's time and effort do keep up the attacks??
Oh geesh. Stop the game...lets call for immediate changes! How DARE an attack victim be allowed to outsmart the attacker.
Someone call Whine-1-1 for a whaaaaaaambulance.
And your victim isn't also playing to win?? You almost seem to be suggesting he is cheating, when in fact he is using what amounts to his only real defense against such a continual battering.
You make it sound like we can just click a button and all of our resources will magically appear in another town.
Well, it's not so easy preparing for a 100k attack against your city when your total army over all of your cities barely scratches 20k. This happened to me tonight (100k army) and I literally spent 30 minutes or more preparing to protect my resources. I had 3 warehouses and still had WAY too many resources left for plundering if I didn't start shuffling things around. I ended up moving resources to several different towns (leaving them open for attack as well) and was able to reduce my losses drastically (although all of my wall defenses were destroyed which was painful enough). What made it even harder was that most of my resource carrying troops were out on their own march at the time, so I had very little opportunity to move large amounts of resources.
The fact is, I had no chance of even coming close to winning this battle, so I did what I had to do protect my resources. I don't blame him for coming after me, I did have a lot of resources and it would have been lucrative for him had I not have seen him coming 45 minutes prior to the attack. If he really wants my stuff though, he'll get it. I can't be on every hour or two checking to see if attackers are coming. Even if I were, I would not go through the pain of shuffling things around like I did tonight.
well I already did my complaining but I suppose give the guy a break he is also saying how he doesn't like how city capturing works with the scout spam and I take this time to say it again try posting it in the great minds think alike section you never know they might actually react to your feedback
Did most of you even read his post?
He's not complaining about people USING up their resources...he is talking about people MOVING them from city to city when an attack is incoming (you usually have TONS of time) preventing anyone from gaining much of anything by attacking that city.
He's talking about having some way of stopping (or at least hampering) someone from moving their army or resources to city 2 when you are attacking city 1. It's a lame tactic and VERY easy to do....at which point if you are the defender, you lose almost nothing.
So, its perfectly ok for a hugely overpowered army to come in and stomp the everlovin' daylights out of a smaller one, and the defender has no right to salvage what they can from the impending attack? The loss off the wall defenses (and the cost in resources and time) isn't enough of a blow...what you are saying is...they are just supposed to sit there and watch their city be plundered to hell and back, and that's that?
You take a risk when you attack. This is one of them. Moving resources around is NOT a "lame" tactic...it's usually the only way a player can make sure they are not simply wiped out in the first round. Just out of curiosity here...what is the Attack size of the OP's army, and what is the defense capabilities of his victim here?
If you are a soft target with HUGE amounts of resources, then yes you brought it upon yourself with poor gameplay. Keep your resource levels low, build up your defenses and become an UGLY target...give him no reason to attack you, no benefit to him for doing so.
Moving resources around is a LAME tactic, of course you would say it isn't as you probably do it. Build up warehouses, in most instances these will protect ALOT of your resources. Join an active alliance, when the attack is incoming have them reinforce your city via embassy. If need be, the large members should be protecting the smaller ones anyways....I know for a fact alot of the people i'm hitting these days are simply people who have attacked members of my Alliance.
Using lame tactics isn't their ONLY option...just the easiest and takes the least amount of actual planning or forward thinking.
It's really easy to call someone's tactic lame when you don't use it. It's also a lot easier to find someone else to attack that doesn't do this. It's generally what I do, instead of wasting my time.
Plus it's a hell of a lot easier than changing in game mechanics, and it also takes less time to do.
