bring ballistas and rams.
easier w/ siege weapons...
If you do use archers then yes, outnumber them 10:1 for minimal casualties.
ok thanks for the info...
Best way to do it- Lots of catapults with level 10 archery.
I send Ballista... took out 900 towers with 300 Ballista and not one lost
A ratio of 3:1 will do, you'll have reasonable casualties (i'm assuming your archery level is the same as that of the defender).
just overwhelm them with warriors far far cheaper and quicker to replace the looses
build a mass of warriors... in large numbers, warriors can conquer almost any defenses and are dirt cheap to rebuild

how not to overcome archer towers lol .... this is going to cost a lot to rebuild. silly alliance mate

So far great advice for taking low level NPC cities. Try that on real players that actually have a real defense and see how that plays out.
Catapults own all
nobody overcame any of the abatis, there were no cavlary therefor the abatis were worthless
Infantry can get around abatis if there are enough men. I forget the ratio, but I think it's something like 5:1 troops to abatis to get around them.
Does anyone have a screenshot of siege weapons against towers?
These have been some of the worst responses to a simple question. The answer isn't simple, so I will just get started.
Archer towers attack at range. Their base range is longer than archer's base range. The Archery skill adds to both units. If the Archery skill is higher than your oponents, even seige weapons could be destroyed before they attack the towers (with catapults being the exception since their base range is higher than towers and you need arachery 10 to get them). Since catapults take a LONG time tobuild, let us assume that 1000s of catapults is not what you are looking for to answer your question.
When comparing archers to towers, if your archery skill is 2 above your opponents archery skill, then you are at approx equal range (it depends on level because there are times where towers will have slight range on archers). So if your archery skill is 3 over your opponent's archery skill, your archers will attack first. With 3 times as many archers, expect to lose little to none.At equal archery equivalent you should attack with 4 to 1 odds. You will win with some casulaties. You can send infantry to attack towers as well, but they will die unless you send a large amount say 10 to 1. Since infantry at those numbers would be expensive to train, only warriors should be considered for the task. There is nothig wrong with sending both units in together.
Say you want to attack 1000 towers and 1000 traps. Your archery skill is 2 above your opponent. You send in 5k of archers and 10k of warriors. This is a wise tactic because your opponent could still open the gates for his troops to attack you. Now, you should win with 10k warriors or 4k archers, but thebig picture isn't how do I get past towers. It is how do I get past ALL HIS DEFENSES?
Reserches, scouting, and troops are all necessary to answer your question. A single tower at lvl 3 archery is much different that 6000 towers at level 8 archery.Without EXACT data, we are talking theory instead of reality. So the answer to your question is, your question cannot be trully answered fairly. The appoximate answer is build up your research and attack with overwhelming and/or superior forces.
in theory shouldn't 1 catapult or ballista, be able to take out an infinite amount of archer tower's, if they are the only one's in the battle, and provided whit enough time????
since archer towers have lower range and don't really move.
to your answer, yes. the ballista will attck clear archer tower 1 by1 ONLY if they are no troops for the defense.
AND rmb, u have only got 100rounds. u can use 1 ballista to clear maybe 50archer tower? and u will lose that ballista after that 100rounds. i think so.
you lose the unit b/c it cant break the defenses after 100 rounds. Think of it this way...you send a bunch of people to take a town, if you send them with enough food for (x) hours, eventually theyll run out, and die, if they cant breach the town walls.
Same concept here
thought of that, but why sudden't they give up, then retreat when they discover they can't take it, and it would be better if they retreated.
well sorry but i just don't get the reason really.
Poor math. A few good ideas turned bad. new game. take your pick. I hope we can convince UMGE to fix it.
There actually is a point where attacking a Castle that has a certain defence number and skills is not ever going to work without literally millions of casualties. Anyone whos taken a lvl 10 NPC will tell you its a nightmare in logistics and the amount Armies you need to employ. This "Critical Defence Point" is reached at lvl 10 Archery, lvl 8 Engineering, lvl 9 Machinery with 10,000 archer towers, 10,000 traps and 300 Ballista. When you reach that point your what we've started to call "Death Stars".
Come on! The range stuff is nothing new. If you would have read through this post Importance of Range, you would have already known about it. It was posted decades ago!
