Win what? o.O
EDIT: NEvermind...
the emperial starship definately
Admiral Horatio Nelson on the flagship HMS VICTORY of course...
Alright I'll go with the Entreprise.
Empire vs Star Trek- Empire
Star Wars vs Star Trek- SW
Star Destroyer vs Star Trek ship- Star Destroyer, only if it had its ties, if not, the Star Trek, and if persons went toe- to-to, the typically the Star Trek ppl would win
Star trek wins every time. They've got shields.
Umm SW ships have shields too. And Star Wars easily win.
Everyone knows who would win.
Thats right, me.
uhmm duhh its star wars move all power to forward deflectors and start blasting away
SW ships only have deflector shields for traveling at high speeds.
ST ships have navigation (deflector) shields as well as defensive shields.
SW ships also use laser canons as weaponry. There's an episode of TNG where the Enterprise comes across a ship armed with lasers and it is stated by Picard that their weapons "won't even penetrate our navigation shielding."
Enterprise would bring uber pwnage on the entire Imperial Fleet.
Imperial Mk II Star Destroyer: Over a mile long. Tractor beams to pull stuff in. Enough weaponry to annihilate it, really, really fast. 72 starfighters on board for interceptions.
Enterprise: Small. Wimpy. Unable to flee.
Who do YOU think?
If you move all power to forward deflectors, where, might I ask, are you getting the power to fire the lasers?
Exactly, thank you.
SW ships have deflector shields for ANYTHING. The Enterprise can pound away with its puny little cannons until the cows come home, and nothing will happen. Even if the lasers don't work, they have massive batteries of concussion missiles, and they could just pull the Enterprise into their hanger bay and board it, just like the Tantive IV.
Have you even SEEN Star Wars? Did you think that in the opening scene, they just flew into the Star Destroyer and were slaughtered for FUN? No. They were trapped in a tractor beam...
And HOW, in your wildest fantasies, could the Enterprise have an offensive or defensive advantage? It's like a guy in a bathtub with a pistol vs. the Yamato!
Phasers > laser canons
Quantum Torpedos > Concussion Missiles
Regenerative shields and ablative armor > deflector shields
Warp Drive > Hyperspace
Besides, you can't even get a lock with a tractor beam while the Enterprise's shields are up and those puny little laser canons can't even come close to penetrating it's shields.
ok eneterprise wins if it has data ...that settles it
Is there any science behind your reasoning? Or have you just put the < sign in backwards?
PHoton mASERS produce microwaves. Lasers amplify and direct light, and in Star Wars are super-energized using plasma. Lasers>phasers.
Quantum torpedoes essentially push their target into its lowest energy state, destroying most alloys. That would make them completely ineffective against ceramics, funnily enough. Concussion missiles produce a massive shockwave that break down molecular bonds, essentially doing the same thing, except they WORK AGAINST POTS. Conc missiles>quantum torpedoes
Star Trek shields generate a gravitometric replica of a strong alloy which is made of energy. Star Wars shields produce strong EM waves which absorb energy weapon fire and use it to boost their power. SW shields> ST shields.
Warp drives work by making nothing both more and less there at the same time. Hyperdrives transport the ship to another plane of reality, where normal physical laws (i.e. c being a speed limit) do not apply. Hyperdrives> warp drives.
Q.E.D.
Wow and i thought i was the biggest nerd on the thread lol
oh dang i give this bout to ZEN
Ok, nerd fight. *takes a puff of inhaler and makes sure pocket protector is secured*
Unfortunately, the phasers of Star Trek are not the photon masers of the RW. Star Trek phasers fire nadion particles (I can't tell you exactly what nadions do other than make people sick. this is because that information was never created/released)
Quantum torpedos work against all materials, ceramics included. Concussion missiles, contrary to what you say, are nuclear or thermo-nuclear based. (which still can't get through a federation starships shields)
Star Wars deflector shields do not "absorb" energy, they deflect it. Star Trek shields use graviton emitters to essentially make a solid barrier that nothing can get through as long as they are powered. Star Wars weapons just can't do enough damage to make the power consumption of Star Trek shields too high.
You defeat your own argument with hyperdrive. Star Destroyers have to go into another plane of reality to go FTL. That means they can't fight.
Federation star ships at warp can still use weapons.
There's also the matter of transporters. You silly little Star Wars fans have to use shuttles to get around. Hahaha, don't you wish you could just travel in style and teleport? A federation ship could essentially just beam a quantum or photon torpedo aboard a star destroyer and blow it up from the inside before it ever got close.
Summary of argument:
1.) Star Wars weapons are w34k
2.) Star Trek weapons pwn n00bs
3.) Star Wars shields are uber w34k
4.) Star Trek shields are impenetrable to Star Wars weapons
5.) Transporters rule
Put that in your spice and eat it
I don't know why... but I see this retaliatory post as a major... oh, I don't know.... FAIL!!!
Zen uses actual science and thuroughly discussed theorized science (correct me if I'm wrong about that Zen) to prove his points, whereas all you are doing is using your wimpy and incomplete Star Trek knowledge to fight back.
One particular note... about Star Wars sheilds that I find interesting... you state that they "deflect" and don't "absorb"... have you seen the movies or actually read any of the books? Do you see lasers bouncing off of/being actually deflected away from the sheilds of a ship in any Star Wars movie? No.... you'll note that their shields "absorb" all of the hits, and only after they are overpowered in what they can absorb do their shields begin to weaken in spots, until the entire shield is removed... which is why you'll find in many of the battles in the books between capital class ships, they specifically target all of their weapons towards one point on an enemy ship, in order to pierce their shields and hull, and work towards drilling thru the entire ship.
Also... I'm surprised that Zen has forgotten about the fact that the Imperial Star Destroyer has many batteries of Ion Cannons along with the concussion missle batteries and turbolaser batteries. I don't know how the Ion Cannons would add to Zen's earlier post, but I'm sure it would :D
Real Science Supported Fiction > Wimpy Wannabe Geek Fiction
(Now... I'll happily admit that I am nowhere near capable of what Zen can do, which is why I will simply sit on the sidelines and root for Zen and Star Wars, however, that doesn't mean that I can't make a simple observation as to how lame your "come back" against Zen is, because I didn't read anything that made me believe ST tech would win.... and the point is, regardless of how much of a fan I am for SW, I would be willing to admit at least a draw, IF and only IF you actualy posted something that could stand up to Zen's posts... but you can't so I won't worry about it >=) )
is it william shatner or Jean Luke Picard??
if its will shatner then the Empire will win..
if its Picard.. then Oh man.. the empire is fkd!
Phasers ARE photon masers. Look it up. I mean, I don't even WATCH Star Trek, and I know that. The original writers have been quoted as saying that they are photon masers.
Quantum torpedos work by creating a field which essentially has no energy, which causes weak molecular bonds to collapse. That disintegrates alloys and any impure substance.
Maybe the reason you don't understand SW shields is that you THINK that they're called deflector shields. They're not. They're just SHIELDS. And they absorb energy, but not at 100% efficiency, which is why they can be taken down by a continuous bombardment.
I have real trouble with you saying that SW weapons can't generate enough power to destroy the shields. A single shot from a turbolaser has enough destructive force to vaporize anything in an area 7500 feet square. Star Destroyers carry 50 of these weapons, which can fire once every second or two. Have you seen Episode 2, where the SPHA-Ts fire on the escaping Core ships? About 5 of those, each armed with 1 heavy turbolaser, taking down a ship roughly a kilometer in diameter after a couple seconds.
Going into a different reality to travel is a GOOD thing. Instead of your warp drives, which you apparently can be fired upon while using, hyperdrives render the ship using them completely undetectable, which means that you could fly through a system right past your enemies, pop up behind them, and kill them all.
I don't even get this. It's like you took a peek at your argument, discovered it had no validity, and then made a bunch of statements saying that you were right to cover up the mess.Quote:

Ion cannons if I remember correctly disrupt electrical impulses. In other words it's like a directed EMP. Ion cannons can disable shields and ships. Here is the explanation I found about Ion cannons, it appears I am right.
In science fiction an ion cannon is a beam weapon that fires beams of ions (atoms or molecules with an electrical charge). Due to its power it is usually classified as a superweapon. An ion cannon is actually a type of particle cannon; only the particles used are ionized. Due to their electrical charges, they also have the potential to disable electronic devices, vehicles, and anything else that has an electrical or similar power source. The science fiction inspiration for this effect arises from the particle cannon developed by Nikola Tesla which fired ions into the ionosphere which charged them further, when repeated the energy generated would have been great enough to cause significant electrical damage. Because of their classification as super-weapons, ion cannons have found their way into movies and television shows that have a science-fiction based setting.
In my opinion Star Wars would so win against Star Trek, based on technology alone, the only tech that St has going for it that is superior is the transporter.
hello? I want to know if the SW Death star is still around. I also want to know if the jedi or sith are a part of this. That could destroy the st sorry hands down. By the way they each are from different times so sw would always win if they are in the same time, the Earth's future. The beginning of Stars wars is Along time ago in a galaxy far, far away. So that means to the future of star trek, stars wars has had many years to advance and therefore would kill the start trek ship because even in the star trek time we didn't have the advancements of star wars and that happened years and years ago. Therefore Stars wars would win if they meet up in star trek time. If you had the power of the Force and sith and jedi Star trek is dead.
Jean Luke Picard would DESTROY Darth vadar in a 1v1 combat scenario of any kind
no way. darth vader can just pick him up and choke him from across the room. he could also use his lightsaber. Also if you bring the Emperor into this star trek and your guy is dead. The emperor can shoot lightning if you remember even though he looks like a weak old man. So still start trek will loose.
obviously you underestimate the suave sophistication that resides within Patrick Stewart. His calm cool demeanor, aurora of arrogant pride that is so smooth that it doesn't seem outta place in the least bit, and his "im a leader no matter what im doing, regardless of the situation at hand" voice makes him an unmatched adversary in any genre/conflict.
aren't jedi and sith not fooled by mind tricks, and if the Emporer was there then what he couldn't be tricked. Just face it you are talking about one guy. I am talking about time and the main aspect of the movie, Stars wars has Star Trek beat. Also star trek came before Star wars so Star wars is better because it might have taken ideas from star trek and made them better. Again Star Wars hands down.
