They speak for people in a court case. That person they speak for can either be the defendant or plaintiff.

Prosecutor is same as plantiff.
Rest of answers are good, i wasnt looking for petition but you get extra credit to make up for the prosecutor mix up and pass. I was looking for Baliff but couldnt figure how to word it without giving away answer.
