Aegis-fang (derived from the mythical shield Aegis) is the weapon of Wulfgar, son of Beornegar of the Elk tribe. It was forged for him by his adoptive father KING Bruenor Battlehammer while he was in servitude to the dwarf king.[1] It is made from mithral (the head) and adamantite (the shaft) with a diamond coating magically adhered during the forging. Its head is engraved with magical inscriptions which are covered by the symbols of the dwarven god Dumathoin[2], "the keeper of secrets under the mountain" and the god of knowledge, as well as two other gods.[3]

It is a large and heavy warhammer, perfectly balanced for Wulfgar. Any person not over 6'5" and without considerable strength has a hard time wielding it properly.[4] It is attuned to its wielder and will magically return to their hand upon telepathic command.[5]
