I had a great day. It was awesome to see the kids I missed so much last semester when I was abroad. They looked so much older and so much more confident. I felt very proud of them. Lots of ex-students came to visit me and say hello. Students of today - be aware that there is nothing nicer you can do to a teacher you liked than come back to visit them and drop in for a chat.
I've got a couple of classes and I know about 50% of the kids from last year, the others are brand new. My last period class was full of scary looking guys, including known trouble makers, so I was a little scared of them. They turned out to be awesome - really interesting, smart young guys who are just trying to figure stuff out in their own way. I have a good warm feeling about them and I think that's going to turn out to be my favorite class.
