I see so many Mech Battalions go to waste because the person (oddly enough, usually a newbie) that wins them has no idea what is about to happen when they open it.

Luck does smile on the wicked once in a while. I just won the mechanics battalion. Fortunatley, I have 3 cities, working on the fourth in an isolated location. My plan is to deploy the battalion in the new city, once food production is maximized. Should be interesting for the neighbors.
I actually recieved one on my second day. It took me another month before I could support it. I was being attacked by a slightly greater force and 10 seconds before the attack I released the Mechanics Battalion. I lost 3 archers and 5 swordsmen.
you have to be smart. It takes a LOT of food to support 250 of each.
I just got one too :) I will wait to open it until I really need it or need to kill something what a wonderful thing to win!
It is a very powerful tool. With it you can farm midlevel barbarian towns (L3-L5). With some work they do pay for themselves. Just make sure you have the proper research to hit one of those barbs with zero losses.
Anyone who complains about this gift is just jealous.
well this thread seems to have been necroed repeatedly, but the OP stating 7 days of constant production for this, which is what a couple hundred each of transports, ballista, rams, and catapaults? Maybe from one single barracks. Except for the catapaults requiring a lv10 barracks the rest could be produced in a couple of hours by anyone with a few lv9 barracks in one city.
Edit - maybe not quite a couple hours but certainly not a week
Funny story, one of the first amulet spins got me an MB :-)
Indeed, eager as I was I openend it rightaway not knowning my resources got plundered. I sold most of them, but luckly kept a few.
