This ain't yo old-school OT in here, bro. We be serious now, fo reezy.

As you might have guessed, this is the thread for serious discussion. All those using improper grammar or spelling will be shot. All those who go off-topic will be shot. Anybody who spams will be shot.

To start you all off, what do you think the eventual ramifications will be for the United States government allowing the military to run rampant with hundreds of billions of dollars per year that are sorely needed to pay off the government's crippling debt?

Well, lets see- this was done throughout the Cold War, and even then, the last time our debt was paid off was under Jackson, and most of the debt was accrued once the Democrats took control of the Legislative Branch...

Well, in a fashion, the USA will sell all it's debt to China, who will then raise interest illegally. USA compains to UN, UN gets nothing done until someone gets the Russian representative drunk. (That's seriously how they get things done in the UN.)

By that time everyone will have forgotten about the new interest rates besides the US, which will find it's debt has trippled in the last 4 months.

Of course, this is just what I think, purely opinion.

Oh, I forgot to mention that. Anybody blaming anything on a specific political party or person will be shot.

Koop, most of our debt is already in Chinese hands, you should read the book by Lawrence McDonald, titled: "A Colossal Failure", which covers why we are where we are now.

Edit- but Anyonmous, it is true, I don't care what political affiliation you are, it is a fact that is when most of the debt accrued.

Well the military uses that money to pay for wars the politicians get us in, to pay and take care of our solders, and lets not forget the national guard who come in after tornadoes/floods/earthquakes/when you refuse the H1N1 shot...
So they will spend it how ever the politicians want it spent.

As for the democrats being the spenders, they themselves think government should tax and spend to help all the people. Republicans don't want to spend as much.
Personally I am against our unConstitutional forced into being Constatutional taxation and big government spending.

From an outsider, i.e. Non-American, the way I see it is that the Democrats spend way too much money trying to do good for the population of America in the form of education, healthcare and such and the Republicans spend way too money on wars that aren't theirs, such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

But too much money is spent, that's for sure...

I want to throw something else in, is it known by you Americans that there is a law that states that the United States of America can and will invade the Netherlands if an American is being brought in front of the International Court for Crimes against Humanity. In other words, an attack on a fellow NATO country...

I think the ramifications of this are clear, as we a living in them right now. It's not just the billions pored into the military that is the problem, its also the placing of fund's into corporations for "rebuilding" efforts all over the world. The only problem is, most of these companies have certain share holders (if not majority owners) that are in the upper section of our government. Something similar to the building of the transcontinental railroad is just being replayed again over time. The government bids out the job to private contractors, takes the highest bid, doubles it (not kidding), and then pays a company which they either have shares in or like i said own. This has been happening repeatedly over the course of our nations history since the industrial revolution.

I know it's kinda politics but what about Scotland releasing Al Megrahi. I can't believe Kenny Mackaskil let him go on compassionate grounds. Now America's boycotting Scotland:p

Has there been any president since the Civil War that was not a member of the masons? I know there was atleast one, I can't think of who it is. I was surprised that O'Bama was a member, but I guess noone can really gain power on their own. It's also funny that the Mason's Fraternity is both Dem and Rep, makes it seem like they are really the same thing. Who woulda thought?

just out of curiosity, how many of you people from outside america view america's economic plight as being funny? i'm an american, and i think it's pretty funny that noone thought "hey, maybe we don't need to buy this 52 ince lcd screen, second car, new house, and 1000's of dollars of worthless crap on our credit cards, keep if for a year or two and then loose it!!" we're not in this problem just becaue of the "evil government", a big part of it is caused by unresponsible consumerism, we were told to buy what we can so everyone bought that times 2 and now there is no money to pay it off.

It's funny in the same way that a cat tied to a surfboard going off a ski jump into a forest fire is funny. It's kinda humorous, but horrible at the same time, and you can't stop yourself from watching.

lol i was thinking it was funny in the sense that after being a country who has repeatedly spammed the necessity for other country's to be responsible and bring in a "democracy" has a population of very few responsible people. i kinda see the cat/surfboard/fire thing too though, except its more like a monkey in a business suit with a poo stain on his face flying off the jump into a time warp that keeps making him perpetually continue the cycle for eternity

Before the thread is closed, one quick question, which NATO country did the US invade?
