Bring Me To Life - TFK
no known ones
this has mostly to do with the ranges a ballista has
1400 * 1.35 = 1890
while the believed range of a AT for lvl 5 NPCs is
1300 * 1.5 = 1950
you will always come within the believed AT attack range
that being said we have a realitvely successful HBR 1 A 9 combo whose final supposed stopping point should be at 1945 from the ATs, plus the ever successful A8 HBR5,6 combo stops supposedly at 1950
leading us to believe that the range of a lvl 5 NPC is not quite 1950
so if you really feel like trying it with Archery 7 the best possible combination of HBR is 3 or 9
they should both put you at a range of 1865 to stop and shoot.
unfortunately that is within the confirmed range of ATs of a lvl 5
so yeah if you come up with a way to make lvl 7 archery work we would love to know

Actually I like to do someting a bit different.
Okay lets say your looking for a attack hero. You find one with 65 attack. So if you follow Vanin, you would take him/her. Now, here's what you must take into account, THE LEVEL OF THE HERO. If this hero is lv 20, then thats a crappy atack hero. What you should do, is(using atack as an example) attack of hero - Lv of hero. That way you know the base Attack of the hero.

i sent 3 messages to mods, so.. that's the result, well, we can continue with the good games.
Also we can make an opinion, if not, this will be a "post-your-youtube-link-thread"
Sick~ nice job on the calculation. You really put in your hard work in this. Thank you.
Unforutunately, I haven't seen any posts about archery 7 successfully hitting lvl5 npc cities without losses in any of the other guides after wall bonus patch.
In addtion, icedppul is correct in that the archer tower range has some interesting discrepency in figures from what we have theorized it to be.
If you are willing to experiment, I would love to see some results.
In addtion, in regards to npc lvl 4s. I have archery 10, and hbr 9 with 10s on all other techs relevant to war. I have 0 losses hitting them. I'm not sure how things might have changed in the game, but it does not affect the A10/HBR09 combination.
My only point is, when you have a month's prep on raising the xp of heroes, you will be having several ballistae too. So, sending them in wave 1 can definitely reduce losses on archers. The guide is primarily targetted on first-timers(huh, it's 100th time I'm saying this) who are clueless on how to go about it. A one-place reference is the aim of this thread. No method can be BEST FOR ALL. Advanced players may find sending ballistae as lethargic and hence use archers + warriors, I for eg. am still experimenting on optimising. Well, the discussion is clearly going off-topic, please restrict your comments on the stated post, thanks!

Roses and Butterflies - Making April
I can see where you are
I can tell you're enjoying it so far
I would love to escape, but now I'm bound...
By the burn of your eyes
Looking on as I'm starting to realise
I'm a pawn in your game, and this is checkmate...
As the roses lift their heads to catch a glimpse of my demise
You'll be throwing lies around like ocean waves throw down the tides
And they are breaking on my shore...
And the rescue team won't save me now that I'm out to far
With Archer10 and HBR9 My latest no loss hits
level1 - 13 ballista
level2- 50 ballista
level3 - 150 balista
level4 - 225 ballista
level5 - 475 ballista
I'm gonna continuously decrease the number and see whats the lowest no loss number..
IF YOU ARE ON AN OLD SERVER THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU. THIS IS ONLY FOR NEW SERVERS WITH THE NEWER LOWER DROP RATE. DON'T EVEN BOTHER POSTING IN THIS THREAD IF YOU ARE NOT ON A NEW SERVER.
There is entirely too much nonsense on these boards about the medals and how to get them. I was on server 29 and got 12 rose medals, 20 lions, and 15 cross. Now on server w23 and have gotten 7 rose, 12 cross, 12 lions, 1 honor.
The drop rate is roughly 1% per medal type. It does not matter what level valley you attack. The valley level only changes what types of medals will drop. The drop rate remains 1% per medal type.
So you can attack a level 1, 2, or 3 valley (type is irrelevant) 100 times and you will have a pretty decent chance of getting 1 rose, 1 cross, and 1 lion (yes 1 of each).
Troop losses do not matter. Int does not matter. Type of troops does not matter.
The only thing that matters is sheer volume of attacks. If you need 7 roses you will have to do roughly 700 attacks. You may get lucky and get them in 400 or unlucky and have to go 1500 but that's all just luck. Most people here who are complaining are NOT making anywhere near the volume of attacks needed. You are not doing it efficiently and you are constantly shifting your strats and doing a lot of random time consuming stuff. You need to attack a LOT and you need to do it quickly.
Furthermore, the anecdotal evidence people are throwing around is COMPLETELY 100% garbage because we're dealing with 1% chance here. If you get 2 medals in a row and it happens to be your int hero, that is meaningless. The odds are so low that linking any other extraneous variable is worthless.
I have made roughly 2800 attacks on valleys in the manner I will describe below. I've kept track of how many medals I get per hour. It fluctuates from hour to hour but over the long range it remained constant:
1% medal drop rate per medal type per attack. Even changing from level 1 to 2 to 3 valley did not alter those and if any factor influences drop rate (ie, int, losses, etc) valley level would be the most important but it does not.
If you really really want to get to baronet there is 1 way that works 100% of the time. I've done it twice now and I have a friend doing it now also.
1. Build a lvl 8 feast hall in a city and a lvl 7 rally. Appoint 1 hero as your mayor and have the other 7 heroes lead attacks on a valley adjacent to your city that is lvl 1-3.
2. Make absolutely sure the valley is as close as possible - ONE SQUARE (and preferably not diagonal because that adds .2 miles) - because that's a 5 min round trip. Anything further is potentially doubling or tripling the amount of time this takes and it takes awhile.
3. Have 1 valley slot open on the town your attacking from.
4. Attack the lvl 1-3 valley next to your town. If its level 1 you can do it with 30 archers, lvl 2 with 70, lvl 3 with 100. You can probably find lower numbers that work but those won't ever take losses even with low archery and MT. Don't bother with any other troop type. Taking losses on 700 attacks is not smart and doesn't improve your chances.
5. Keep the attack menu open and wait 3 seconds. Send another attack. Repeat that til you are out of heroes.
6. Now click on overview and then valleys. Wait for the 1st attack to capture the valley. Immediately click view -> abandon -> ok. Repeat this 6 more times.
7. You've now had 7 potential medal bearing attacks. Wait for those guys to get home and send them out again immediately.
8. If you are really wanting to speed up the process build lvl 8 feast lvl 7 rally in a second town and do the same thing. This is as fast as you can do it. It takes a lot of work to queue the attacks when you get to this many.
With 2 towns going at this pace (14 attacks every 5 minutes) you will be attacking valleys 168 times an hour which means you should get 3 rose medals every 2 hours (3 lion and 3 cross as well). But it will fluctuate from hour to hour.
Things that DO help:
1. Compass (your men hit the valleys faster)
2. Restarting your browser often (lag can interfere with the rapid clicking)
Honor medals are where things get more difficult.
As an aside:
It makes perfect sense that nothing you do during the attack changes the outcome with regard to medal. When a valley generates its defenders, nothing will change that after the fact. The server decides how many of each possible troops type it has and what kind of hero it has along with resources. It also likely decides if it has a medal and what type. We just cannot see that one piece of information. Losses effects honor and prestige because that's a function based on how close to winning or losing the battle you were. If you get really close to losing but win you get high prestige/honor (depending if its PVE or PVP). There's no reason this would effect medal hunting and I certainly have never seen any evidence of this considering I did 2800 attacks without losses and got tons of medals while I've warrior rushed dozens of level 1-2 NPCs and not gotten any particularly large number of medals (maybe a handful).

Makes a pile of sense - after reading all the others
Well done and thought out
Thanks. It is a bit of work but if you don't want to spend however much it costs to buy a medal box (I think its 24 dollars?) then this is worth it. There is also the fact that it gets all of the heroes involved a LOT of experience. This time around I made sure both feast halls were full of quality heros (60 in a stat or better after you subtract their level) and they all got like 7 or 8 levels. You also get some resources each trip. Overall it's not that bad. I've done worse grinding in every other MMO I've played and even in many single player RPGs like Final Fantasy (Tactics especially).
Considering most people are just sitting idle while they wait between queueing techs, buildings, fortifications, and units, this is really not that big a deal. I think 2% drop rate or even up to 5% drop rate would be better but its certainly not as bad as people are making it out to be. They simply aren't approaching it properly.
Good points. This is just a grind. Most of the players were whining on the older servers too where this was much easier.
So you say every valley has the drop rate 1% to each medal they can drop?
So if I attack for example level 6-8 valleys I have 1% to get cross 1% to rose ... 1% to honor/justice?
I am interested about your opinion from this, do you get the same lion/rose result on level 5+ valleys or worse?
I have power to send out 7 force against these valleys so that would be spare me time with honors too and maybe
I think honor/courage/wisdom much easier. If you do attack 40-50 npc raid per day you get these easier.
My experience is valleys drop any medal type except justice, nation and freedom (I tried tons of attacks on level 5-8 valleys on server 9, and around 200 level 9-10 but no sucess) npcs can drop anything.
I think every target has a preferable drop at least after a month npc farming on server 9 I ended up with 100+ courage but 50- from the others. Maybe this works different on newers. I dont have enough data for statistic here because I usually play from works so the micromanagements too costly.
I earned 2 courage 2 honor 6 lion mostly from level 1,4,5 npcs what I use to raid from around 2-300 attack.
It seems I need to find some afternoon for grind. :)
Got my L10 today with a 133 attack hero for the first wave....:)
could someone please pm me a code that would be great all the ones ive tried are used
Can I see a report Shoko-koko?
quick question do you have to conqure it or can you just attack the crap oput of it
dont need to conquer it but the fight necessary if you send too many troops the fight ends up immediatly so no prestige, experience or medal.
the valleys need some time to regenerate their troops, but after you abandon a valley thats happen immediatly. If you dont have time this much micromanagement clear out 7+ valley space and abandon them when the attackers arrived. Or make no valley space and attack every valley in 10-15 miles than wait for regeneration (how many time need them?).
The 1 valley conquer abandon is the fastest way but that need the most micromanagement too.
Excellent guide and discussion. I too would suggest a sticky on this.
