The spearhead attacks are over in usually 12 - 14 rounds.
Ballista are so slow they don't start shooting until around round 30.
If you don't understand this, send your 17,000 ballista against a level 1 npc, they obviously kill level troop in one strike each, and the battle will take 34 rounds at least. Send 50,000 ballista and it will still take 34 rounds.
If you still don't believe this, send your 100,000 archers against a level 1 npc. The battle will be over in 12 rounds or less, the archers are quick to shoot.
The different battle reports already posted, both the archer and the archer/ballista armies finish the battles in 12 rounds. The ballista don't shoot.
All the ballista seem to do is die from the trebuchets. Their purpose seems to be to draw the trebuchet attacks away from the archers.
The ballista add several minutes to even a 1 mile trip, for no attack value, for the purpose of dieing.
It takes warriors at least 14 rounds to cross the field. The 400,000 barb warriors are never reaching the archers regardless of whether rainbow troops are sent or not.
The losses are from traps, logs and AT's. The only possible thing to send in support of the archers are foot troops to soak up damage from the wall defences.
What is the reason for sending the ballista?
