Wow really? I haven't seen that yet but I'd imagine that cant end up very good. I dont spend much time on world chat though just the occasional trash talk to people. How quite did it get though? maybe they were tired of people abusing it so they added that as a way of getting rid of it actually getting rid of it.
Well, its my understanding that some players are given the power of GMs, this is mainly for chat moderation. But it is clearly being abused if I can't respond to silliness from our enemies in World Chat.
Worst part is...still costs speakers when you try to say something.
That's strange...
Lol does it at least show if your not talking or is it like blocked words where u cant tell if they are blocked or not?
I bet half the people don't know they have the silence ability. I bet they just hear someone spamming and they're like "AGGHH! Shut up!" and they click silence.
Are you confusing this with Block? All users have access to this feature, and it simply places the other person on ignore until taken off.
pretty sure there is a timer on world chat to prevent spamming
Some things should be left to a FAQ entry.
There is a feature in the chat with regards to certain foul language. If you say something you aren't allowed to say, or if the system thinks you are spamming, it removes your ability to post in world chat for a certain time period. This is automatic and generated by the system...it has nothing to do with a random user being able to silence you.
but is this as random as the chat word censor in general?
Because if it is then perfectly normal conversations/words will be censored out.
And let's face it whoever decides on the filtered words has very little grasp of what is a swear word and what isn't.
For example: Hello boys and girls.
I have recently found that the word 'girls' is filtered to a *.
So half my alliance though I was swearing at them.
But the main issue is probably that the person typing the word has absolutely no idea that a word has been filtered.
It's a good job it's not a serious matter or we'd have problems.
I noticed this too...then chalked it up to the person who chose the filter words not speaking native english... then again it's a very elementary word. Go figure. What if someone was talking about his/her children? *shrug*
I wonder what would happen if we tried to discuss the actor who played Burt the chimney sweep in Mary Poppins...
