Surviving While Offline:
Guide To Defenses

Being attacked when you’re not online can be a nightmare, but if you do a few things before you log off it might help save your city from being taken over.
And always make sure your in a good helpful alliance that would protect your city if your being attacked and make sure let them know that your going off for a while, this way your city has a better chance of surviving.

1. When you log-off put your tax rate down 10-15 to give you higher loyalty. (This is useless if you are being attacked by some one with a high rally spot.)

2. Close your gates, depending on the amount of troops you have.(only close your gates if you are not in a good alliance or are not in one at all.)

3. (Only works with gates open.)Take your hero with the highest attack and appoint them as hero to prevent scouting of your city(make sure you have a good bit of scouts to fight rival troops.)

4. (Only necessary if you have a ton of resources.) Put your resources in the market, but make sure there at high prices so no one will buy them. This is so that no one will want to attack you just because you have a bunch of resources. The way this works is that if your attacked they will get the resources, but when they scout you they cant see the resources, so it looks like you don`t have any resources.

5. Give the heroes you want to keep rewards so that they have more loyalty. That way if you are attacked and plundered your heroes wont leave.

6. Invest in archer towers!!! (the best of them all.) Always make sure that you have good defenses.
Here is a chart of what resources you need for a certain amount of Archer Towers so you know what to save up for.

7. Now for your research. When it comes to fortification you have to research your Machinery (very important!!!) real high (9-10 would be best). All this does is to help your archer towers and other defenses last longer in battle. Here is the required resources for Level 9 and 10 Machinery:

8. (may depend on the surrounding cities)And if you wanna scare some noob away from attacking you get lvl 10 Town Hall and lvl 10 Walls!!!:D:D:D(but if you don`t wanna buy a second Michalengo`s Script and just wanna use the one your given i would use it on the walls better defenses.)

And remember sometimes the best defense is a good offense!!!

Well there ya have it pretty simple couldn't find any thing on it in the forums so i figured id post what i knew on the subject.

1. ok point, but an extra 10-15 loyalty above 70 only takes 3-4 waves of 5k cav.
2. worst point here, closing gates means reinforcements can't help and your army and forts fight seperately which makes them both far weaker.
3. intelligence has no bearing on scouting hero attack determines how effective your scouts are in battle (as with any troop) and the highest attack hero in the city (that you own) will take charge of the battle regardless of who is mayor.
4. not sure about this one may work, may not. We already know they can plunder resources that aren't traveling in the market, so shouldn't scouts be able to seee them?
5. Not sure if you can capture heroes when attacking a city.

Scouts will not see the resources on the marketplace, but yes, they will be plundered. Heroes will not be lost unless the city is taken.

actually when there in the market you can't take em you can do that or send your resources across the map lol:D:D:D

If they are merely 'hidden' in the market i.e. listed for an extreme price the resources will still be plundered (this used to be a viably strat, but got changed in a patch weeks/months ago), if however they are in transit (the 30min waiting time between buying and recieving) thay can not be plundered but this doesn't help much if you are offline.

1. well you gotta a rember the more loyalty you have the longer it takes for some 1 to take it, so that would buy you some more time to get reinforcements.

2. not necessarily if you have just a bunch of troops laying around then yea open them witch i did point out in the first post but if you a real noob w/ hardly any troops there`s no point of losing those troops you already have.

3. higher intelligence hero: if the hero has a higher intelligence then the one that your opponent sent then they will not get a good scout report or no report at all. this is good strategy that does not require scouts but the on the other side of this scouts are cheap lol:D:D:D

4. they cant see them but Im not sure if they can still take them but the point of this is so that your not a desirable target.

5. they dont capture them but they will leave when your loyalty gets to a certain point.(just like your troops)

2. by closing your gate it makes reinforcing pointless until the 5% loyalty mark. by then, chances are all your traps/abatis has been cleared, which makes your reinforcement mostly food.
3. intelligence of hero plays NO part
4. its only useful during peacetime, in war your resource doesn't matter
5. your hero leave you (when plundered) because you cannot afford their pay. it has nothing to do with the loyalty.

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.
10 extra loyalty will not help. Why? Because if someone wants to cap your city then 10 loyalty only takes an extra 2/3 attacks..you've wasted all of 3 minutes of their day; if that was your goal, well done. If protectin' your city was your plan, you screwed up.

If you're not in an alliance you shouldn't go offline expectin'to come back to an unplundered city. Get in an alliance would be a helpful tip. Fortifications from allies help.

Mayors with high int do not prevent scout efforts. Plain and simple. What does prevent it? Scouts. But you have your gates closed, so your scouts sit back and let enemies scout you. Well done. One point of advice managed to screw over the next one, too.

Resources on the market can be raided. Puttin' them on the market will only incur the trade fee for you and any enemy comin' will still happily take them all.

Hero loyalty is a dice roll. 95 loyalty and there's a 5% chance they'll leave anyways. And if they lose a fight they lose loyalty. And over time their loyalty will dip back down to 70 anyways. And when you get plundered you lose money to pay them. And when listenin' to all this failed advice gets your city capped, the hero will then belong to the enemy regardless of their loyalty.

Not that this was a bad guide or anythin', it jus' didn't achieve what people typically want...to keep their cities when they go offline.
