Eh, you could but they tend to die easier and becaue of their lower value you require more of them to attract the scouts attention. You can use less swords to become the target and then that smaller number of swords will still do the same job as the larger number of pikes.
And then, bein' iron manshields, they act as a pretty solid layer regardless.
I have both, personally. Heavy layers of swords and pikes, then thinner layers of everythin' else. Both together help each other do the job better and work as a good preventative to pony attacks and scoutbombs, as well as bein' a serious issue against anythin' that wants to kill layers.
Scouts are low value, so you'd need a lot of them to attract the attention of the bomb, and then you'd lose a hell of of a lot of them as well since it's 1:1 troop fightin'.
At least w/ swords, the scouts slam into them and barely do any damage, while the swords murder them fast.
100k scouts will kill about 4k swords.
40k swords will kill 100k+ scouts.
It's ju's not efficient or practiacl to use your scouts for it...might as wel use workers for all the good it would do.
