They didn't. You hit the 100 round death mark.
They didn't. Your archer force was too weak to conquer the city (essentially, too weak to overcome the walls) so they hung around outside till they "starved to death" (end of battle).
Proof? Notice where it said that the fight lasted 100 rounds. The outcome is correct.
100 round death mark????? Is it some type of Civony joke, a sarcastic remark or is that a glitch in the game that doesnt much sense.
No it is a proven part of the battle system. When a fight lasts more than 100 rounds, the attackers automatically lose and all their men die.
It's not part of the battle system, it's a bug. Wanna know how I know it's a bug? Because battles aren't meant to be stalemates. We have a non deterministic algorithm figuring out who wins and just croaks at 100 rounds. Not exactly elegant.
how exactly do you overcome the wall defenses? is there like a minimum amount of troops to do that?
I mean, when i send in thousands of archers and transporters...they just return with loots and didn't die after 100 rounds.
Ok here is why the fight lasted longer than 100 rounds:
As long as there is a single fortification, be it an Abatis, Archer Tower, Trap, anything, your troops will need to tear down the wall to get into the city. You'll notice that as you level up your wall, it increases a stat called Durability. This is the amount of damage the wall can take. Your troops failed to bring the wall's Durability down to 0, and as such could not enter the town within 100 turns and lost the fight. As such, you should either clear ALL fortifications before attacking with weak waves, or just attack with more troops.
I hope this clears things up, this is not the result of a bug but of bad planning on the attackers part.
In response to the post above mine:
This is because the wall was a low level. The number of fortified units on the wall does not increase its health, and since Abatis cannot kill scouts and the wall was low level, they managed to break through the wall within 100 turns.
Excellent explanation! one question though...does this mean that if I know the level of the wall and its durability i could take the attack my troops would deal combined per round and multiply it by 100 and use that number to determine if the attack would succed at conquerin the wall? or are there other factors that would altar the out come?
