So I think this thread should be closed for being 'necro' cuz frankly it got lame somewhere around page 30. And was started long before Joes. Do threads you start have a longer shelf life then the rest of ours?
OR
you could just not close other threads for invalid reasons.
Take a pick but dont be so bias. Would it really have hurt so bad to leave joe's thread open so that when he read it he could have freaked out publicly for us all to enjoy?
I'm hoping Ghost doesn't mind if I jump in here to help clarify.
A thread "dies" when no one has posted in it for weeks, and is "necro" when after those weeks someone posts, effectively raising the topic from the grave. I'm not sure that applies to the example threads you provided. It's also not about when a thread started.
The point of these forums isn't to provide a place where y'all can "freak out" other members. You exist here as part of a community, and threads designed to agitate specific people are not allowed.
If you believe Ghost is biased, contact FoxyBunny or Dawnseeker. I can assure you, from personal experience moderating S1, they take claims very seriously and do investigate. However, while it is always appropriate to give a moderator feedback in private messages, it is always inappropriate to flame and instigate against a moderator on the forums in public.
I hope this helps!
I am not sure if you noticed, but the definition of necromancy is to revive a long unposted thread, which is coincidentally against the forum rules. Joe's thread was last posted in 4-14-10, and it is over 2 months later when you posted in it, hence "necroing" it.
Where's Crip was never necro'ed as people keep posting in it and keeping it alive. It is quite a famous thread in fact and I've seen people from all over the forums reading it.
I don't mind if my threads die out, I got a bunch that were unsuccessful in the past, but doesn't bother me anymore.
I am not being Biased about the threads, but just doing my job, which is enforcing forum rules and keeping the forums going.
It would have been funny to see Joe freak out, but I don't think he visits the forums anymore and I doubt he is going to freak out when he see's you post that post rather than a developer.
