Meh. When I got FF7 I took it home and got completely immersed. Except for meals and bathroom breaks, I did not sleep and played it for probably 60 hours straight. But I was young and had teenage stamina to not sleep.
I played it totally through clean. Then played it again with the walkthrough guide so I could grab what I missed. I have probably played it through a half dozen more times since then messing with various materia combos. I have one save with at least 6 of each "master materia" color.
What makes this guy a loser is that he thinks 40hours is a record just because he bothered to get the Guiness Book to certify it as a record.
How could you play a video game for 40 hours? Jeez. My eyes usually get really tired after just a couple hours.
I've played Evony for like 2 days straight..lol.
Aside from that..10-20 hours is the most.
On weekdays i only play 2 hours tho lol.
I once played WoW a lot. But I think my record would be along the lines of 8-10 hours, before I would turn it off, and go for a loong walk, or a take the bicycle for a spin. I don't think ppl who play like that are loosers though. You guys know his name, but he doesn't know yours. Who is the biggest looser in that perspective? =P
Besides, I am maybe not the right to judge, but I think he looks ok, he is not "nerd" looking.
If it rocks his world to play for that long, I think he is cool, might not be the same to rock my world, but oh well, most ppl would say fishing for salmons for hours on hours is stupid too, so it is really whatever you want to do :)
just to toss my two cents in, it's been my experience that people who point and say "LOOSER!!" are really trying to say "Crap in my pants!! i wish i had the dedication to do what i love with out fear of social reprisal. let me make every one hate you for doing what i only dream of"

I once played battlefield 1942 for 24 hours straight, but i`m old, retired,have health problems and have nothing better to do.
It really is sad and pathetic that so many young people waste their best years of life playing video games instead of going out in the real world to make something of themselves and create meaningful memories that will last a lifetime.
when they get old this video game generation will look back on their youth and have nothing to remember except all the time they spent playing some cheesy video game.
I have fond memories of my youth, all the places I went, the people I met, the things I did, this generation will look back and say
"yeah I rememIer 9/11 that was when I beat my high score in mario brothers, huh? the twin towers? i never played that game what year was it released?"
such a sad and pathetic waste of a life.

There was a guy who grew his finer nails out into long spirals at the ends of his hands, totally nasty and he can't function in everyday life because of it. His wife has to help him by rubbing vitamin oil into it every night to keep it healthy...

The longest I've played a game consecutively is about 5 hours. I'm sorry but I gotta say anyone that has played for over 10 hours is sad IMO. There are 3 reasons why I wouldn't or couldn't play a game for over 10 hours.
1. It gets boring.
2. I need some social interaction and the swearing I hear on the PS3 when someone dies on COD doesn't count.
3. I'd feel sick.
