I think without having a known figure for profits and maintenance costs, it's a shot in the dark to guess how much extra money they may have and where it goes. It's easy to just assume Evony is swimming in cash.
I assume that's the box also labelled 'AGE II'. But there seems to be a division in the players of whether developers should hurry up and get Age II out already, or should make fixing/upgrading Age I their primary concern instead.Quote:
but where does the figurative box of money labeled 'UPGRADES' go?
It's all gone into the VIRAL ADVERTISING I see in every bloody website I visit lol.
I can't believe this thread, I do however believe who the biggest poster in it is.
The game is FREE to play. You don't have to spend a dime on it. Some of the people that have joined the band wagon in this thread and complained about wanting to know where the money went, have not spent a dime on the game at all.
Gather your lynch mob somewhere that make sense, but wanting to know where the money goes that you spent on a game? Specifically on a game that is owned and operated by a private company. Can each and every one of you be that dense? Do you have nothing better to do with your lives? Also for those of you that don't even play, wtf does it even matter to you?
THE GAME IS 100% FREE, NO ONE HAS EVER SAID YOU MUST SPEND MONEY ON THE GAME, GET A GRIP PEOPLE!
Where does the money go? The largest chunk of it likely goes into Marketing campaigns... the rest likely gets shipped offshore to a bank account in asia somewhere.
Evony LLC might be a "US Based Company".. but big deal.. I, too, can be a "US Based Company".. in Delaware, through The Company Corporation, just like Evony, from anywhere in the world, with no documentation, for relatively little money.
Considering that Evony has to be spending out the ears for all that advertising... and yeah, I know internet advertising is cheap compared to traditional media... the sheer *volume* of it has to represent a significant outlay of cash...
And considering, just from server population numbers, that Evony's "10 million active players" consists of probably 8 million inactive noobs that quit on day 1....
I'd say 50% of Evony's intake gets shipped overseas... The 50% of what's left gets spent on:
50% Marketing
40% Salaries
10% Development, Customer Service, Server Operations, etc..
Just speculating based on performance... Salaries, of course, could be lower.. and marketing could be higher... but I highly doubt any more than 10% of revenues are actually spent on the game in any way, shape, or form.
i dunno.. mebbe.. osama bin laden
Evony is really Obama's way of funding Universal Health Care for America. This is why he hasn't told congress where the money is going to come from to pay for it all lmao
It's just sitting in there paypal accounts.
