Did you miss my point. I'm not saying you've been here less time than anyone. I referred to your post count as "You've been here a fair old while chap" and you should know better. You should know that trolling as such, leads to such pointless arguments.

For the benefit of society on the whole, I've put my two cents in and as such, am leaving this. Heed my advice or don't, but please be aware that I have no further interest in talking to you. Look, this thread is nothing but a flame fest. I'm gonna contact one of our nice mods if there's one more flame post.

there are still flamable elements within schools, in fact our school is made of brick too and yesterday we had to evacuate for an actual fire... Had to call in the fire department and everything, sadl- I mean luckily the school is still standing...

You go to the grass to make sure your away from the building enough, even if the building is brick, you wouldnt want to be near it when it falls because there is a fire...

Well, standing on grass also is still safe, while it is flammable it wont spread as quickly and will give you enough time to move to safety if the need arises.

Firstly, no building exists that is made entirely of brick. The outer wall is brick, but interior walls will be either plaster or drywall, with insulation between them and the outer wall, wood struts and distributors, etc., all of which are highly flammable. Add to that the fact that most classrooms are liberally filled with paper, and you have a firestorm just waiting to happen.

Secondly, short, green grass burns very poorly. It's green because it's healthy, which means it's filled with moisture. Wet things = hard to burn. So even a large fire might not ignite the grass, and even if it did, you could crawl faster than it would spread.

Children are evacuated onto the grass, and told to avoid the sidewalks for a few reasons.

1) Sidewalks lead somewhere. Grass often is enclosed by a fence. Herding the children into one area and being able to control them, rather than have them meander out into the street is preferable.

2) In the case of a real fire, the children may panic. If you run on grass, you might get a grass stain. If you run on cement, you could be hurt worse. They don't need to be fussing with the first aid kit in the midst of an emergency.

3) In the case of a real fire, the firefighters and other emergency personnel will be using the most direct means of access to the building. That is usually the sidewalk. Stay off it and let them work.

4) It's a school. They are required to create rules that have a reason and purpose, and over the years distort them after explaining these rules to children 8,233,765 times to the point that nobody any longer remembers WHY you should stay off the sidewalk, only that you should.
